Will there not be food this year? It was pretty good last year, even if I had to wait in line for 35 minutes for my little plate of pasta and salad.

Got the email and I got a server. I went to NJ one which was on the 3rd. It's a damn sweet server for the price. For us they upgraded the 160gb WD SATA to 320GB!!! They also give you LOTS of free stuff. Besides the server bundle, got free lunch, a free toolkit, mug, flash drive, headphones and a couple other goodies. The server is rock stable at stock settings and has low temps to boot. Unfortunately, there are a couple issues:
1) This is a Tyan S2865 board. It's meant for server/mission critical apps. So there's no real overclocking functionality. I tried messing with the settings (HTT/mem/cpu voltage etc.) but it wouldn't even post at anything past stock. Unfortunate since you get an Opty 165.
2) If you want to use this system as a desktop/workstation, the Small Business Server 2003 they give you isn't very user friendly. You gotta run a few tweaks to get all the options you get from Win XP.
3) The server comes with an onboard ATI Rage XL 8mb vid chip. What this means is that windows will run like a slide show at high res (internet explorer etc.). Even videos suffer from the limited vid card.

If you get this system with the intention of using this as a workstation/gaming platform keep these things in mind. Personally i'm gonna drop an ASRock mobo in there, overclock the 165 and get a new vid card.
 
I got the same email, but didn't want to depart with $650 for a so-so platform. they kept on saying how it retails for $2k. what a load of bull. used to root for amd but i think they are getting too cocky. go intel!
 
Do we have to be registered to get into the the demo/show? Im thinking of going, but didnt regeister or anything. And dont plan on buying the bundles.

it was the February CTP buid. Pretty useless. The show was ok, I've seen better. Microsoft presentation, believe it or not, was very good. Not a sales pitch from the guy, but an honest opinion.
 
My friend just installed the Vista DVD , he said it showed Beta 2 on the screen,
and yes the DVD did say Febuary,
I will have to check the version# when I get back home.
I agree the Microsoft presenation was very good.
 
Well...according to GotChung, he paid for the bundle in advanced and when he got there....they couldn't find it or find his name. He went to the Chicago, IL one...anybody have the same problems?

The Tyan S2865 does have a PCI-e X16 slot.

They claim I didn't pay for the bundle 48 hours before the event. I got charged 🙁
