Apple, the favored computer of many movie artists and companies, may be losing ground to AMD. AMD plans to become the creative artist's dream CPU. You can read more here.

Yes, I saw this this morning, but didn't have a chance to post. AMD has/will render most of the starwars II and III films !!!

The new L755 3.6 intel pentium 4 is pretty close to AMD's top offering so lets not say AMD is dominating. When Intel releases its 64 bit cpu for the desktop, Intel probably will be tops again like it has been for years.

AMD is dominating. They've just beaten intel out in EVERY single field of benchmarking, even encoding/decoding. who knows when intel will really release it's 64 bit cpu for the desktop. AMD is still a step ahead of intel as of late. their last few cores are crap. 2 of them were cancelled, and the prescott isnt a great performer as some say they should be. intel's latest xeon cpu's hardly even beat AMD's opterons. The Opterons manage to even beat out most of the benchmarks against the xeons, and the opteron 250's came out months longer then the xeon. how sad is that.

buncha intel fruitcakes...

I do hope AMD gains ground on the server market. The more money they make the more they can put in R&D which in turn would mean more powerfull CPUs from AMD camp. Its not like they're miles ahead of Intel right now. But they do have a clear lead atm in terms of performance. We all know this is good buissiniess that AMD has a competing product and im really impressed that a company many times smaller than intel manages to outperform them with a much smaller budget. Seems like someone did his homework in that department IMHO. As someone said, intels 2 last cores been cancelled and we all admitt prescott isnt the greatest hit out there. What i think most of us are waiting for is the Dothan core to arrive for the desktop with a bumped up FSB and possible hyperthreading.

Next year is gonna be a hell of a year to buy CPUs I tell ya :D

Let Apple do all the fun stuff and have AMD and Intel fight over the boring office work applications. Apple spends all their time and money making beautiful monitors to show off the multimedia creation. They deserve the creative projects.

This quote from the article is perfect at explaining why this will never happen:
many Mac fans would rather face a fiery death than to have their Macs taken away.

Guess I don't have to post in this thread after all. Jobs is god.

Intel's 64-bit processors are going to be expensive, just like the 64 when they came out. I think Intel will release a crappy 64-bit just to keep people from buying AMD.

I think Intel can beat AMD if they actually gave a sh!t. It's just because of marketting. I bet if they continued to work on performance rather than on the market they'd win. The netburst architecture sucks and Intel knows the only reason it was made was for it to be in higher numbers, so ppl would think it's better and buy it. Unfortunatley the netburst architecture is extremely ineffecient compared to the P6 architecture which was why you saw the pntium 3 1 ghrz being better than the pentium 4 1.4 ghrz and etc. Btw I am going to buy a AMD athlon 64 3200+ so i'm not a fan boy =).

Edit: They can't go back either, cause it would seem weird that a Pentium 5 would be 2 ghrz but better than the pentium 4, introducing the Pentium M was a great idea and I think this is Intel's way out and into the performance market.
