I just bought a pre-tested T-bird that hits 1400-1500. I wanted to know whether Micron or Kingston PC133 CAS3 would do it ?

you have 2 ways to overclock your cpu to 1500mhz, you can either increase the fsb or increase the multiplier

if you overclock with just increasing the multiplier then the rest of your system will stay right at spec, meaning nothing else is overclocked and any pc133 ram will work

if you overclock with increasing the fsb that will increase the speed your ram runs, and yes you will need higher quality ram depending on how much you want to overclock, just remember that its not just the ram, but when you overclock the fsb you are overclocking the agp and pci bus also, so you may have pci cards that are not capable of running on an overclocked bus, same with the hard drive.

ok.. im not familiar w/ amds but lets say I bought a 1 ghz t-bird garunteed to o/c 1.4. now i dont know the multipliers and fsb but do you "think" PC 133 will do it ? because by the time I get my stuff, I want it up and running rather than knowing it won't hit that high because of my ram. in that case, I'd sell my ram now and get a faster one

I would think your ram would make it even though must cpus oc'd to 1400 or 1500 are done @ about 10.0 multiplier (lower then default for 1.2ghz) and 140-150fsb but your ram should do it.
