AMD Stability VS INTEL STABILITY

Honestly is there any hard evidence anywhere that indicates one system is more stable then the other?

It's like debating whether one a dish with one ingredient is better than a dish with another ingredient...it's all the ingredients that count!....just as it's all components and software that matter when it comes to stability.

I'd say they're both about equal assuming you use quality parts on both systems.

Why is it people want the thread locked? If you don't wanna read another AMD/Intel thread then just don't read it.

amd k6-2 500 mhz on a FIC 503+ with a geforce 256 versus a PII 450 + geforce 256 on a bx board, yes the intel is definetly more stable.

Okay so what you guys are saying is that they are identical in stability.
So why is it many say intel is more stable?
And why is it that AMD runs so freakin hot?

If you run at stock speed, they're equally stable.
BTW, plz lock this thread, no more Intel VS AMD plz.:|

When the first Athlon XP chips came out they were having problems with heating and some stability issues that resulted from the chips running hot. However, that has since been fixed. My brothers AMD never got above 43* with stock cooling until I oc'd it now it'll hit 47 and it's OC'd from 2100+ to 2600+. Solid as a rock. Both companies make good chips, if I were buying NOW I'd get a Barton, I plan on building in about 4 weeks by then some numbers will be outon the 800mhz P4's.

I happen to have a kt133a and a thunderbird 1.2ghz. I have had nothing but compatibility issues with this stupid chipset and nothing but heat problems with this processor.

Hehe... ok just a quick reply they`re about the same, remember stability is down to many things like user skill, quality of components used with both AMD and Intels processors,in the end stability will be excellent with either if you know what you`re doing and don`t take any short-cuts with using cheap crappy components 😉.

🙂

Both are stable.
Both run hot.
Both are fast.
Just don't put crap components in either one and you'll be fine.

It's a matter of preference anymore.. like comparing red apples to green apples.

Anyone who says otherwise is misinformed or plain ol' ignorant.

I find it interesting how there is always someone to pop up and say. I have never had any issues in life with anything whatsoever.
I also find it interesting when people are eager to dismiss past incompatibility problems with major hardware vendors by calling them crap components.

I was speaking in general and also from my own personal experience going from Intel to two AMD systems that I`m using at the moment(both rock stable).

If you want to talk about incompatibility, well I`ve never had any compatibility problems, infact only problem I ever had was WinXP OS not working with some of my older games(X-COM games) which is a WinXP problem not hardware(since the games work fine in Win98).

My ex-Intel PCs were used as heavy gaming and general use, just like my current AMD systems.
I would rate them equal for compatibility.

In the end it comes down to money between the two for me, not compatibilty 😉.

I have a KT266A Chipset & a T-bird 1.2Ghz processor. I haven't had any problems with either, processor is 39 @ idle and 42-43 @ full load, plus the chipset seems to be fine. Have you upgraded your VIA mainboard drivers or tried a better heatsink/fan for the processor? What temp are you running at? What are your compatibility issues?
