I am looking forward to knowing how these run on older RDNA GPUs.

Well it still has the issue with ETQW crashing at stock clocks. I turned down the GPU boost clock, and it seems to behave better, at least hasn't crashed again in ETQW.

Is that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars?

a free game?

Alright, so I may have an idea of why the Radeon display driver was crashing in QW and how to mitigate. At first I tried down clocking the GPU core clock, but that doesn't always solve the problem.

Now, I am using the Radeon noise cancellation feature with my mic. I started looking around in the Radeon software settings, and tried changing the Radeon noise cancellation feature to use my CPU instead of GPU for processing. Couple this with the fact that I often crash while using ingame voice or discord while playing ETQW, and it seems like whenever I crash I seem to be talking, and I might be on to something. So far, I haven't had any crashes since changing the processor for noise cancellation from GPU to CPU. I will continue to test.

Changing the noise suppression processor did not fix the crashing, but I do still think it was driver related. After the one crash I had tonight, I looked in driver settings and changed the game profile to default from RX eco, formerly Hyper RX. No crashes since but I will keep an eye on it.

I don't know what I did, but I clicked on to upgrade drivers and I ended up with Q2 2025 "Pro" Edition with blue icon.

Did I screw up? Should I uninstall and go back to normal drivers?

Any news yet on the upcoming 25.7 drivers? On 25.6.1, and unfortunately I have not been able to completely eliminate crashes in ETQW.

Well turning on Vsync seems to help, haven't had a single crash since turning it on for ETQW, so far.

25.6.1 has been working well on both RDNA 2&3 for me. Only problem I've had is in Spiderman 2 freezing, but reading around, every brand has issues with that game. Some fix it with different drivers or more esoteric solutions. Others like myself have not found a solution yet. I can get up to 2hrs, but a freeze up is inevitable. Annoying as hell. I tried 25.6.2 but no joy. Rolling back one version same thing. Happens on both AM4 with 6800 and AM5 with 7900XTX.

Every other game and app works fine.

I still haven't picked up game yet due to that issue waiting until its resolved then will buy it on steam.

And also still on 25.6.1 I usually don't use the optional drivers unless I'm forced to.

In other news my sister bought a 9070XT from a local store (Central Computers) for a good price, and I installed it for her, with these latest drivers. It was the Asrock Steel Legend, for $699. Big upgrade from her R9 Fury Tri X.

That is a huge upgrade!!

Yeah even with her older hardware, the new GPU really helped in the new Dragon Age. She is running a 4930k clocked to about 4.1GHz and 16GB of RAM. At least this is a HEDT 6 core i7, and not the basic 4 cores. This probably helps these days, that and quad channel memory. She will likely do a platform upgrade a bit later.
