Yeah, that's what I thought. A 3700+ San Diego will outperform a 4000+ (Claw)Hammer. You can count on it, when a core's newer, it'll outperform the previous. Because, if it wouldn't, they wouldn't even think of releasing it.

Except if we are comparing Northwoods and Prescotts....Although at higher frequencies, upper 3ghz, the Prescott did show speed increases clock for clock...

Yes, but that's because they're 2 completely different cores. For example, the Venice core is like a revision of the Winchester core. Or is it?

---EDIT--- Sorry, gotta make it a qoute, no?

The way clueless kid is getting his panties wet over San Deigo I think he's running a old Duron or worse a Willamette Celeron, underclocked of course since he does'nt know the first thing about it.

Dude, that's not even funny. I'm running an AMD Duron 1400+, and it ain't pretty.

the best deal you should get is a pentium 100 mhz overclock to 5000ghz now thats a performance gain worth fighting about lol

PLEASE, stop posting.

The only advantage to getting a more expensive chip to overclock is that you have a larger range of multipliers to chose from. For example... if I bought a 3000+ instead of a 3500+ I'd be stuck at 2160 MHz instead of 2596 MHz since I think my CH-5 RAM isn't agreeing with my processor and I can't get HTT above 240 stably no matter what timings or dividers I use.

Don't Feel bad it's faster than a 2.0 Ghz Willamette P4:)

Guys, you've let this whackjob hijack what could have been a useful thread. Do we have a mechanism on AT for getting someone 86'd? Otherwise stop responding to him? Sheesh.

Up until about 2 weeks ago I was running on a P4 1.5 Williamette oc'd to a whooping 1.7ghz. Even worse was the 256mb of rdram, I couldn't force myself to pay the ridiculous prices for more ram. That was the 'fastest' PC I had until a few weeks ago too lol. How I don't miss those days.

All I can do is work my ass off and save my money like hell to get together enough money for a decent system. I'm thinking of S939 3700+ San Diego, but if I wait about a year, I could get an M2 (940 or 1207) Windsor core. Oh, poor me :(.
