Unfortunately, these CPUs are rather limited, being 65W, and having internal power limits that limit boost clocking. You really have to be prepared to do an all-core overclock on these, manual overclock to bypass limits, and put it under AT LEAST 240mm AIO WC. (*I did that with mine, had it at 4.0Ghz, 1.350V, 135-140W Package Power.)

They're not bad CPUs, but if I had a choice (and I own both of these - edit to clarify, I mean a 2700 OCed, and a 3600), I would probably go with a 3600 or 3600X over even a 4.0Ghz 2700X, just because of the improvements to IPC, AVX throughput, and cache, with the newer ones.

OTOH, if you have a fixed budget price of only $150 for the CPU, and no higher, then by all means, get a 2700. For the money, it still blows away the equivalent-priced Intel options, for most things.
