I changed RAM kits for more capacity, no longer B-die unfortunately, but I've managed to tighten up the secondary timings quite a bit already (not the first 4 though).

Turns out my older B-die was actually limiting the FCLK to 1867/3733, but now I can do 1933/3867 with no errors (TM5, IBT).

I'm going to have to read through some guides to see what I can do to further tighten it up, and remembering what I did last time I'll probably have to check with benchmarks to see if performance regress with some of the timings (I know that's been mentioned in some of BZ's videos).

Every system has a sweet spot.
Find your sweet spot.
PBO is different for each motherboard manufacturer.
It's designed for BOOST MODE ONLY overclocking.
( not all systems are created equally )
So true. After looking at all my data I may just leave PBO on Auto.
Idle: 3677Mhz, 32.2C, 0.884V
OCCT CPU stress test (small data): 66.8C, 1.074V
3DMark: 4611Mhz, 62.9C, 1.25V
Benchmarks were not that much higher using PBO's Curve Optimizer and increasing the Boost Override.

Got my 3rd 5950x in today. It won't install win 11, says it does not meet minimum requirements. Another Intel/MS BS situation. Its like Intel paid MS to do this.

Well, I will put win 10 on it temporarily, to check it out, then ubuntu (cinnamon mint 19.2) will be the permanent OS anyway.

Likely just the TPM setting in BIOS. Turn it on, and all will be well.

Well, I didn't have time to mess around. I got mint 19.2 installed, changed the timings on the memory to 14-14-14 from 22, and its up and running WCG.

i'm surprised you had to go into the bios and even change it all the most recent bios updates have it on by default. Unless you are using an older bios on that board.

Depends. What do you use the computer for? will the additional 2 cores make any difference to your workload?

Don't plan on price drops when new models come out. In this market there's no incentive to drop prices on old models because they will sell out just fine without it.

Waste of money for anything less than the 5900X IMO. I would probably wait, still.

I went form 3600 to 5800x half a year ago. It was nice, but now I might wait for Zen3+.
I didn't jump to 5900 so I'll have "room" for the next jump.

Well, now I am oissed.... The 5950x is now $699 at newegg. I just got mine monday and paid $710. And $699 through antonline at Amazon

You mean the 5950x rigs ? they are all linux. Is that a Linux app ? So are all my 64/128 EPYC boxes.

It says wins 7 or later. The only thing I have on windows is a 3900x or a 2970wx 24 core/48 thread. Neither of those are close to the 5950x in terms of real power.
