Usually the m.2 closest to the socket. on x570 you'll have one with pcie lanes direct to the cpu and one or two that go through the chipset. Not sure it actually matters, but that's the one that worked for me.

Windows OS Configuration = CSM
( was UEFI )
This fixed the Boot List also.
( showing LEGACY/EUFI )

Thanks for your input.
I resisted pulling the SATA connectors.
( under my RTX2070 -- no finger room )
But, I did.

With no results --- I found the
"Windows OS Configuration " ----- in BIOS.

DDR timing defaults with BIOS 1.1.9.0 are horrible.
Had to toss my previous timings.
... I'll post when I finished.

Really seems like the curve optimizer isn't doing much here for sustained boost / multithreaded tasks, which is something I was hoping it would help on.

Any tips on how I can further tinker? I'm absolutely going to work on tightening up the RAM and/or trying 3733 with IF at 1866. I'm a bit unsure where to head next with the curve optimizer though.
Just curious, what's your cooling setup is. Your results speak for it being air?
Anyway, I would try to lower curve offsets. With a +200 boost, I've had something like -10 / -15 (2 best/rest), but to gain allcore boost you should raise PPT limit to max value that your cooling can easily handle (I use 115W), and then raise EDC until it stops giving you more performance in allcore.

I have a 5600X coming on Wednesday and I have an Asrock B550 EXTREME4 motherboard that I ordered on 11/5/20. What are the odds the motherboard came with a BIOS version that supports the 5000 series CPUs? According to Asrock the 5000 Bios was released on 8/24/20.

When u get ur board check the bios version first. My B550M came with 1.1 and I had problem installing windows. I checked their website and found that 1.2 added support for the 5000 series. Update bios in uefi is a really simple process.

I ordered an Asrock (B550M Pro4) in advance also. It arrived with documentation that predated the 5000 series. It referred to the upcoming 4000 series. I was a little worried also. :p

When I *finally* got a 5800X, it worked fine. Well, fine enough to boot, run, and update the BIOS, anyway.

I hope that's the case. I don't have a 3000 series CPU to get it set up.

I actually enjoyed building computers back in the days... Now it just feels like a chore
I still enjoy it, but it's more of a pain in the neck than even 10 years ago. Of course, I went with two MSI boards for my first two Ryzen builds - PITA. Then I went with an Asus board for my wife's system, setup like a dream. Asus is terrible as a company, but still makes good boards and BIOSes.

Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240mm AIO
Temp max is 78C
My assumption is thermal migration is leading to the chip self-throttling, even though the reported CPU temp is not anywhere near my mobo-specified (and AMD-blessed) 95C.

BIOS 1.1.9.0 ( beta ) has bugs.

1. Unable to LOAD Cas19 - when selected.
2. XMP profile loads Cas19.
( but BCLK/FCLK ratio 1/2 - no 1:1 even thou selected )
3. saved BIOS profiles invoke 3 reboots before reaching OS.
( 1st reboot produces the F1 memory failure message on POST then F10 exit - no changes - then 2 more reboots )

I post at IF1933 and 1966 but not P95 stable at any DDR timings.
No Post at IF2000 or above.

BIOS release have SIGNIFICANT number differences in CACHE.

IS anyone willing to to verify my AIDA cache scores between BIOS releases ?
Images attached.

BTW, AIDA is consistently UNDER clocking when running.
I had to manually apply 100 to BCLK to stop this behavior.

Could be motherboard or UEFI bug related, I have experienced no change in stability from 1.1.8.0 -> 1.1.9.0, but also no improvement in how high FCLK or how low timings will go.

On my box, it's as if I never updated AGESA at all. Functionally and performantly identical.

I've noticed wild swings in AIDA cache speed readings just from run to run or boot to boot. I wouldn't read into changes in that benchmark much. Only the memory bandwidth and latency appear to be stable and reliable.

Temp max is 78C
This should raise the question, at what power (PPT value in HWInfo)? Cause if it is at default 76W, then something's wrong with your cooling. I think "migration" or wth else that was meant, has nothing to do with it. I have gpu and cpu in a same cooling loop in rather medium performance Al-setup and for comparision, with 72-73C CPU consuming ~110W. In some extreme heavy tasks (OCCT small data set) it raises to 75-78. I would rather take a closer look at your AF and to what VRM temps are on board.

2x Corsair LL120 fans in front pushing air into the Artic Liquid Freezer II 240mm radiator, then the 2x Arctic 120mm fans on the other side of the rad pulling air out of the radiator.
There is 1 top exhaust fan and 1 rear exhaust fan, however at present I leave my case open most of the time for tinkering.
The 78C is with case open, 120-125W package power reported.

Update:
Cinebench MT
PBO +200, CO -5 for best, -10 for 2nd best, -15 for all others
12062 score, held 4.65-4.675 GHz for all cores throughout most of the test
Peak PPT 117.924 W
Peak CPU temp 77.7 C
Peak Motherboard temp 37.0 C
Ambient 24 C
CPU lowest temp 33 C

Is there an easy place to find VRM temps on HWI? Perhaps it's the case that the motherboard VRM is holding things back?

@amrnuke
Your score look normal for that temp. You can try either limit ppt with 100-110W or set 18-20 for 4 worse cores (or do both), this should in theory lower temps and therefore improve the score.

I am wondering why it is that the "thermal limit" is 95C (per AMD) and yet things throttle down before ever hitting 78C (starts off at 4.7-4.75 GHz, but by middle of test it's dropped 100 MHz or so). Not that I WANT it, but it seems to me that the SoC should be supplying the cores with more voltage (all cores report no more than 1.39V during this run) to keep them faster, unless there is some internal temperature sensor not reported in HWI that is sensing temps approaching 95C.

And some heavier y-cruncher benchmarks, do note the 295 watt usage.. Good cooling is required with these settings :)

Wow, absolutely ballistic wattage, 4650?mhz at how many volts? yCruncher also scales real well with memory tuning, on stock memory I doubt it would go beyond 250w.

So, has anyone been able to actually get 2000 Mhz FCLK stable for 24/7?

Why I'm asking is that a friend of mine just got his rig:

CPURyzen 5600X
GPUGigabyte aorus RTX 3070
MoBoASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING
Mem2x PATRIOT PVS416G440C9K (4400Mhz CL19 b-die) 4 DIMMS
SSDADATA XPG SX8200 PRO 2TB
PSUCorsair HX850i 850W PLATINUM
CasePhanteks Eclipse P500A DRGB
CoolerFractal Design Celsius+ S28 Prisma

Looking forward for to tuning it soon. Looking around here and the interwebz, it seems he should rather focus on 3800 Mhz CL14 or CL15?

The other question is regarding PBO + undervolt. What is your experience with that for 24/7 OC with closed-loop AIO?

I had WHEA errors for the 1st time today.
Was upping IF to 1933 and 1966.
These appear in HWINFO as P95 runs.
P95 never failed.
But, windows errors are not good IMO.

Still unable to load Cas19
( defaults to Cas20)
I believe this latency is what I need above IF1933
( my DDR is DDR2000 Cas19 )
... and when tinkering ... Cas17 does not load either...
( defaults to Cas18 )

These characteristics are in Patch C also.
Still working on my timings at IF1900.

Hope my WHEA observation guides those to lower IF setting.

Just booting 2000 FCLK is hit and miss with different uEFI version. One version won't the next will, this one won't, but the last one would. It's somewhat strange how it works, but it is what it is. I've tried uEFI versions that stated better memory compatability, but didn't like my b-die.

I've gotten 2000 FCLK stabilized before as in no errors during memory stability testing, bsods, etc, but the WHEA errors killed the deal. I could somewhat slow them down, but couldn't eliminate them in the end.

I'd probably shoot for the highest FCLK with the lowest timings that doesn't generate WHEA errors on his rig. I guess you could try and boot 2000 FCLK with loose timings and see if it generates the WHEA error/warning and take it from there. I wouldn't waste too much time trying to eliminate them in the end.

You'll have to experiment with PBO and the curve optimizer to see how his 5600x reacts.

Go into the adventure with the mind set that the OS is disposable. Just install what's required and needed for stability testing and take it from there. I use dual SSD's and most of my stability testing apps are portable so they're on the second SSD. My steam folder and other games are installed on the 2nd SSD so it doesn't really take long to reload if needed.

Good luck on your adventure!

It looks like MSI recently dropped a newer uEFI version for my 5600x/6800 rig so I'll probably be doing some playing around myself. I'll have to double check which uEFI version is on it as I've been playing around with the 5900x/6800xt rig for the past week or two.

I believe if you want to actually boot Tcas of 15 you'll need to enable Gear Down mode, at least it seems I had to, otherwise it auto-bumps up to 16. YMMV on a different mobo manufacturer.

I have not been able to hit 1900 FCLK on my B450M board with the 5600X; it's not a memory issue (I have a 4000CL18 b-die kit) but rather either a motherboard or CPU limit. I've been able to 24/7 the RAM/FCLK at 1866 MHz, and timings are CL 14-15-14-30 with a tRFC of 293 at 1.4V. At 1900 MHz for both, it simply won't boot, even with default 18-19-19-39 timings. My mobo is only on AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch D. Will see how that progresses.

With the PBO + undervolt I'm not sure. I used PBO +200 and curve optimizer (slightly different than a generalized undervolt) and with -5 on best, -10 on 2nd best, and -15 on others, mine works very well under a 240mm AIO. Peak PPT on CB23 is 118W. Peak temps ~78C. OCCT small only gets me up to 83C.

This ^ (imho), I don't think there will be any benefit from 2000 fclk overall (bandwidth raised, latency worsened, and add to it close to 100% chance of getting a whea errors shitload), that's the way things are now. Hope they resolve it in not so distant future.

Heyahh!
Why don't you try -18-20 on "bad" cores?
I spent half a day testing various PBO configs and think now I'm close to being finalize "release candidate".
At the end of the day I came to conclusion, that I was mostly wasting time looking for appropriate settings with boost over 350. I have basically two configurations left to test from the original pile of data.
1. +200 PBO (your case) and +350 PBO - the one I lean towards.

First, the most I regret is wasted time when trying to get around that damned CPU resets (reboots) suddenly occured when benchmark just started (and what is remarkable - NEVER during the test itself). It turned out that it was caused by Vcore +10mv offset, that I used everywhere. Just here in this very thread I saw someone suggested to aplly it to compensate Vdroops from weak LLC.
All in all, after I set it back to default and instead tried modest scalar for the same purpose (usually 3 or 5) - all nightmare has gone. Now if that even happened, it's much easier to track down what was wrong.

So, back to the settings, I would ask you to try those below and tell me, if you'll see any improvement (if at all):
PBO Boost: +200, Limits: ppt 115W and tdc/edc 70/140A, scalar: 3x, Curve: 8 and 10 for the best two cores, and 20 for the rest.

I see it, like the following steps can make the tuning process easier to understand and accomplish (the order is important):

1. Define your boost override value (if you're still capped at 200, that's the value)

2. Pick up values for Curve. A couple of tips: establishing values for best cores are kinda tricky, since OS prefer them for light loads, both cores need to get as close as possible to the boost frequency you have set previously and at the same time, be high enough not to crash themselves. For this purpose CB R20 ST suits well (of course, better to avoid stretching, so watch for the effective clocks, not the performance).

3. For the rest of the cores you may set basically the same value, i.e. the lowest possible, which won't crash the weakest one.

4. And finally, depending on cooling capability, you may want to limit your CPU power appetite setting PPT to a couple percent below default PBO value. For the TDC and EDC I'd keep them just the way they won't ever be reached in most workloads.

So what I see as the main idea behind all of it, is to find the point of intersection of the descending (complementary to the aggressiveness of PBO tuning) curve of heavy-load performance and ascending one for light loads. A compromise determined based on the intended type of workloads.
