Has AMD commented about availability of the new 5000 series processors? Should it be better than the last time?

Here in Czechia at launch only 1 retailer had them in stock, 5950X and 5900X went quickly, 5800X and 5600X held a little bit longer but in about half an hour all were gone. None to be seen anywhere now.

I think my Micro Center Sales reps are lying sacks of dookie. I went down there 2 hours ago and they stated they had one 5950X left. Pretty sure they're trying to upsell, as none of the 5900X or 5950X are in the display case. Online shows 3 5900X (down from 7) and 16 5950X (down from 18). Typical refresh on the website in my experience is 15 minutes. Something is fishy about this.

That sounds strange for sure. If you got there while the website still had stuff in stock, they most likely have them in the back if they don't have them in the display case. From what they have said on the MC discord and the phone number I usually call, website is real time with inventory.

Unless somehow all 16 5950's were gone before you got there.

Yeah, the website said 4 at the end of the day. Went back the next morning and purchased one. Took all of 2-3 minutes for the website to update from 4 down to 3 in stock following my purchase. Liar liar pants on fire...

You really should have asked for a manger and complained about how you were treated the day before. I would have ratted off the dweeb that lied to me and asked for a discount for wasting my time, gas, and the increased risk of catching covid.

Does anyone check for GPU's when going to MC for the Zen3's? Am curious if someone can randomly get one or you have to queue up with the voucher.

I would be shocked if they had anything on the shelves. That said, usually online inventory seems to be accurate. The Brooklyn MC had 5700xts in stock for like $550 for days at one point.

It looks like my local MC has 6900xts in stock for just $2600 😂

Whenever I check what’s in stock in Minneapolis it’s always cupboards bare.

I just checked Newegg's website for no good reason: I mean, who am I kidding... Anyway, they're no longer even listing the 5950X as of a few minutes ago. Possibly just a short- term issue with their website, but still disturbing.

At my Microcenter people line up 24hrs before a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, as these are usually the days some trucks come in with inventory. Barely any 3080 or 3070 cards, lots of amd 6700x and also no guarantee you get anything some days. They do hand out vouchers if you have a good spot in line.

My days of standing in line for 24 hours for anything was over 30 years ago! And it wasn't for a video card!

How Soviet of you.

. . . which makes me think, do we have to pay people to wait in line for us to get video cards and CPUs now? I mean, sure beats doing it for toilet paper but still
You can try to find someone in the Microcenter discord channels for your closest location. Probably offer them $100 to wait in line to get you something. But no guarantee you will get the exact item you want.

I saw a new sealed 5900x on OfferUp for $640 the other day in my local area. If I didn't already have one I'd probably have jumped on the deal. If it was possible to walk into Microcenter and just buy one it would cost me around $15-20 in gas and 3hrs or so of time depending on the traffic.

GPU pricing sucks today! After the 3xxx and 6xxx series launch the scalpers markup wasn't much more then $75-100 in my local area. At the time it sounded like a lot, but compared to todays pricing and lack of availability it was a steal. Kudos to those who caved in early and picked one up.

Yup at this point I'm just gonna switch over to trying for a 3080Ti when that comes out. I've heard the silicone shortage might affect gpu's up until 2023 which is scary to think about.

I remember when I was growing up in Romania my grandparents would send me to wait in line to get bread. I'm not doing that for a damn Graphics card now lol.

I already have a RX 6800 in my backup 5600X rig and a RX 6800XT in my 5900X rig so I'm set for a while. I've had my hands on 3 RTX 3070's but wound up trading 1 of them, selling the other to my daughters boyfriend at cost, and flipping the other one to get my 5900x.

The irony here is I didn't have time to because I had to travel out of town for my 2nd COVID vaccine shot.

They can keep these too...

LOL. I saw these the other day and was so put off I just blocked it from memory. The Ironic thing with the 5900x price is they had the 5950x available last week @MSRP. I've picked up several incredible deals from MC over the past few years so I'm generally willing to cut them some slack but stuff like this is just deplorable.

AMD dropped a decent (comparatively to recent supply) amount of 5950x and especially 5900x today on their direct AMD store. I was able to pick up a 5900x but they never sent a confirmation email so hopefully it goes through, they charged my CC so fingers crossed. If not, oh well, I'm not exactly suffering on my OC'd 2700.
