Has AMD commented about availability of the new 5000 series processors? Should it be better than the last time?

Here in Czechia at launch only 1 retailer had them in stock, 5950X and 5900X went quickly, 5800X and 5600X held a little bit longer but in about half an hour all were gone. None to be seen anywhere now.

So this is interesting.
I noticed my Microcenter (St. Davids, PA) has 25+ 5800X's listed last night at $500.

I checked today and they are listed at $650 each.

I guess that's one way to stop the ebay reseller gouge. I guess I'd rather be gouged by Microcenter.

Also the "out of stock" 5950X and 5900X are listed at $1000 and $800, respectively.

Ain't it funny how the market works? You can set a price but ultimately supply and demand determine pricing.

I'm thinking at these prices Microcenter will be able to keep up with demand, once the higher end parts actually get in stock.

It's probably regional. My local MC still has tons of 5800x at $449 MSRP. When they got a bunch of 5900x/5950x they sold them at MSRP as well.

This is the first time my MC has done this. Up until when I went to bed last night they were at MSRP. I think the manager of the store thought to him/herself "Screw it! Why shouldn't we make the extra profit instead of the ebay scalpers who are going to buy these as soon as we put them on the shelves."
I can kind of see their point.

Okay, strange. All prices back to "normal."
Sounds like they reconsidered the tradeoff between "good will"/rep and bringing equilibrium back to supply and demand.

I wouldn't hold higher prices against a retail outlet in such a situation. When selling at (underpriced) retail, the same number of customers go wanting, and *some* of those sales might go to ebay scalping anyway.

Microcenter does raise MSRP on their website above actual MSRP, but then they always list them at "discount" bringing final price to exactly suggested MSRP. So in your example they'd list 5950x at $1000 MSRP but would give you instant $200 discount bringing actual price to MSRP. It's a bit disingenuous on their part, but seeing how they're the only alternative to newegg/amazon now I'm more than willing to give them a pass. It is possible that's what happened when you saw them raise prices, they adjusted MSRP but forgot put the discount in the system.

Europe is ghosted ... In terms of paper launches, this generation cpu(5900+) and gpu's (amd & nvidia) is without precedent , I've never seen anything like this before.

Well, AMD does not seem to be making and delivering 5900X and 5950X at all now.

Our local market is fully saturated with 5800X, they are everywhere in stock now. 5600X are slowly being delivered in small batches.

Keep in mind Lunar New Year was very recent. A lot of supply chains are still recovering from the effects of a lot of people being on vacation in Asia.

It's not just AMD CPUs, I promise you that.

This morning I missed out on 5950x in stock at bestbuy, microcenter, and amd.com.

Then miraculously I saw a local listing on fb marketplace for only $25 more than msrp + taxes. It's now in my hands and I basically paid $25 for same day delivery..

I don't even know how much time I wasted on the stockdrops discord that ended up being of 0 actual use

Nice, I would have done that as well. I wasn't able to get any of the GPUs today though. I did get another PS5 standard console. Might use it as trade for a GPU I am looking for.

I used a RTX 3070 as trade bait to get my 5900x. I did wind up paying about $20 over MSRP for the 5900x in the end, but It sure beats the heck out of the hope and a prayer route.
