Has AMD commented about availability of the new 5000 series processors? Should it be better than the last time?

Here in Czechia at launch only 1 retailer had them in stock, 5950X and 5900X went quickly, 5800X and 5600X held a little bit longer but in about half an hour all were gone. None to be seen anywhere now.

It might have to do with yields but it seems more likely to be a simple price/performance equation. The 5800x simply isn't $150 + Cooler better than a 5600x. It seems most local stores (such as Microcenter) get a similar amount of 5600x and 5800x (maybe even more 5600X) but the 5600x sell like fire. I know I have little interest in the 5800X, but I'm very interested in the 5600X.

5800x in stock at amazon. I really wanted a 5600x, but am willing to compromise for immediate gratification. So, into my cart it went. Went to check out, "there is a problem with your address...".

Went through an unhelpful chat session where some "helpful" associate guided me through reentering my address. Still a "problem..."

Chat person collects my phone number and "phone person" calls me. He can't figure it out with all the resources available to him. However, he believes the problem is that it's an expensive small item and the amazon system doesn't like the idea of leaving it at my house on my rural road in my sparsely populated county.

He also can't reserve the item and doesn't understand that it might go out of stock, lol.

He opens a ticket with "tech person" who will contact me within a day or so...

I don't think I want to buy it from amazon anymore though. Eventually, Newegg will get them in stock too.

After over an hour, the 5800x is still in stock if anyone else wants one -- and has just the right type of address. :p

Edit: after approx. 9 hours the 5800x is OOS at amazon -- though a few scalpers still have them for $700ish. I was never able to buy one because I didn't want to use a pick-up service. Bah. I'd rather save 150 and wait for the 5600x to be in stock somewhere without the inexplicable shipping problem.

It could be. There very well could be a big backlog of 5600X orders that are getting fulfilled and that stock never makes its way public facing, but there's been a lot of drops of 10+ 5800X's across various stores that pop in and out eventually getting sold. I haven't seen a 5600X or 5900X pop up at all or shown on the buildapcsales subreddit in Canada, even if it sold out immediately.

Just looking broadly at the stores I can see, it seems like AMD is moving way more 5800X's than any other SKU.

5800X was available on Amazon this morning @ $450

Managed to grab a 5600X from a local reseller for $50 over MSRP... wasn't happy but I really need to replace my 1500X. Otherwise, I'd have no issue waiting.

There's still 10+ 5800X's sitting in my local parts store, but the 5600X and 5900X are just nowhere to be found. Yields must just be really good and they want to sell full chiplets at $449 and not partial ones at $299 or $550/2.

If that were true you would think the 5950x would be available. I think its more just perception based on it being the least desirable cpu in the lineup.

Yeah, though they might have legitimately anticipated much less demand there and produced less.
Not sure exactly how Amazon ranks things, but the 5800X is ranked as the #1 best selling processor, with the 5950X #2. The 5600X is #8 and the 5900X is #11.

The lack of demand might play a bigger part with it sitting around longer as people are waiting on the 5600X or 5900X.

I just ordered a 5800x. If I had been just a bit more patient, I could have gotten a 5600x, but after 41 days of disappointment, I jumped on the 5800x. antonline.com is selling 5600x and 5800x bundles with a Microsoft xbox 3 month PC subscription for retail + $30. I found them via the Falcodrin live stream on youtube.

Edit: I got confirming email ~75 minutes after placing my order.

Edit: I got "order shipped" email exactly 5 hours after ordering. :D

5600x link: https://www.antonline.com/AMD/Miscellaneous/1414834 (out of stock ~15 minutes after this post)

5800x link: https://www.antonline.com/AMD/Miscellaneous/1414833 (out of stock after roughly 10 hours)

I was able to place order through Amazon on a 5950X @MSRP two days ago. It said "ships in 1-2 days" but after placing the order it says between now and end of January.

It won't take that long. I've ordered two Zen 3 CPU's through amazon for friends and they always initially had a 4-6 week out delivery estimate. After about 2-3 days they both nudged up to be around a week out.

Based on other's experiences with Amazon it seems to be normal.

That's how it worked for me as well.

Ordered a 5600x on the 11th, with the original ship date Feb 2nd. After 3 or so days the date dropped to Dec 31st, then the same day it changed to Dec 17th-19th. Currently, it shows as arriving tomorrow (the 19th).

Update:

Just received my 5800X from ANT Online. Ordered it two days ago. Now if only the Dark Hero was available...
Mine's out for delivery. I ordered ground shipping because I was afraid I would get unlucky again and see it sucked from my cart if I didn't pull the trigger quickly, lol. Fortunately, I live pretty close to Atlanta -- and UPS claims they will deliver it on a Saturday!
