Nice, they'll be here soon!

Now I'm kicking myself, for ordering two "placeholder" Athlon 3000G APUs for $54.99 ea., when I should have just waited for the 3300X.

I've watched a couple videos and the claim is that the 3300 isn't the bottleneck up to a pretty crazy priced video card.

OTOH I am a big believer in buying a the gaming system to support the games you actually play, and for me nothing very gpu challenging is on my radar.

I ordered one of these when the first pre-orders opened. $120 for a decent placeholder CPU until Zen 3 launches.

I am still rocking an MSI B350 Gaming Plus I got from Amazon Warehouse Deals for $54 a while back. To my surprise, the 3300X is already listed as supported on the MSI Support Page. I figured since Matisse support was sort of an afterthought for this board that I would have an issue, but I guess not. Now I can comfortably wait for B550 to launch.

I needed higher clocks and more IPC to tide me over. I am currently running a Ryzen 5 1600 AE at 3.9GHz and it just doesn't cut it sometimes in lightly-threaded workloads.

This deal is getting hotter all the time. Check out the performance this guy gets by tuning the memory and IF. Seriously sick performance for $120

Wow, that's pretty amazing results. Did he actually say WHICH memory kit that he was using in the video? At the beginning, he mentioned both the Ballistix (Micron E-Die), as well as the GSkill FlareX 3200 CAS14 (Samsung B-Die).

I was wondering which kit he actually used for his 3733 results.

I was also wondering, I wonder if my MSI PRO-VDH MAX mATX boards, can handle DRAM/FCLK speeds that high? I know that most micro-ATX boards aren't quite "tuned" for higher DRAM clocks, like some of the more pricey enthusiast-oriented ATX boards might be. (I already have 2x of those boards, and was thinking of dropping in 2x 3300X CPUs when the time is ripe, and I have the funds. Also have several GTX 1660 ti cards that I could drop in.)

He did it with the Ballistix. He used the FlareX, which is listed in the bar graphs, as the XMP and manual 3200 fast, to show what many users do.

He is using a 2080 so weird to say, but it may be bottlenecking it and the 9 series Intel chips. 2080 bottlenecking a $120 CPU, that messes with my brain. o_O GN showed it without these extra tweaks not always fully utilizing a 2070 super, so ?
