AMD Roadmap

AMD is projected to build support for Microsoft's Next-Generation Secure Computing Base code-named Palladium into future generations of its microprocessors, such as AMD K9.

from here

does anyone have any idea when this will be? (amd's roadmap just had codename, so when does the era of the K9 begin?)

I wouldn't expect K9 until mid 2006, early 2007.

Considering Longhorn will come out around 2006, and that's when socket 939 will start to really pick up. 2004 is like a warm up year, switching from socket 754 to 939 and AMD will end at 4000+. So by 2005 probably squeeze to 5000+, and by 2006 5500+?? Besides it doesnt seem reasonable for them to come out with it this early. The "core" cpu like Athlon, P3, P4, etc. last at least 2 years on average on the same socket. So its highly unlikely K9 will be here before 2006 at the earliest.
