I just received this email. Thought some people might be able to take part in this. I would but I'm @ school in NY now :(.

Title: AMD invites you to participate in a research project and earnmoney

Hello,

My name is Joe Strickland with Savitz Research, a marketing research firm here in Dallas, and I am contacting you on behalf of AMD (Advanced Micro Devices). You have indicated to AMD that you would like to participate in research and I am contacting you to inform you of just such an opportunity. I am NOT selling anything, I am only contacting you to see if you would be interested in giving your opinions on desktop computers by participating in a Focus Group, in April.

If you are interested in participating, please contact Savitz Field and Focus at 972-450-8439 and mention study number DL-9665, or reply to this message and include your phone number, and we will be happy to contact you to see if you qualify.

If you qualify, you will be paid an incentive for your opinions. So please e-mail us, or give us a call, and we will call you back as soon as possible.

Thank you for your time and we hope to hear from you soon!

Man, just last month I barely missed out on a free $100 for doing a Zales.com research study. I hope I make it in this one, thanks for the heads up!

Woohoo, I got in! Got the potential to make $125 (gotta keep a journal for a week and stuff) off of this... But more importantly I can help AMD make better products ;)

I believe it's Dallas area only, you have to be able to attend the focus meeting in Dallas.

I have an inkling that this focus group will be for the purpose of coming up with a name for the new K8/Hammer processor that AMD intends to release at the end of this year. They held a similar focus group in Chicago in early 2000 that came up with the name Duron for their value line processor. So if any of you get picked make sure the name isn't too lame please. :)

I HATE not being 18 yet god...

Anyway talked to this nice lady, anyway I don't qualify b/c I'm too young, have to at least be 21. Bah... They want morons who don't know anything about computers, from what it sounds like for the screening questions.

They said they are full....but....may still have more openings due to someof the regulars dropping out or not responding to the invitation....the nice woman I spoke to said she would call me back next week.....the focus group doesn't meet until next month.

I was invited. Should I tell them to call it the 'Eskimo-inator', the 'EskiMorePerformance', or just the 'Eskimo'.

P.S. If the focus group was to name an INTEL product, I would suggest 'Eskimoron'. ;->

Oooh, don't be surprised to see the next AMD processor be named The Boogak. Doesn't the term itself just conjure up feelings of speed and power, yet also tinges of reliability and security?

Ouch! ;)
Actually I think they wanted semi-knowledgable people with good critical thinking skills (they asked me who I would choose and why if I could talk to any 2 people from history, dead or alive) and more importantly, has influence on what other people choose to buy (they also asked me how many people have asked for computer recommendations from me in the last year). I flat out told them I build my own computers, own both an AMD and Intel machines at home, and am a software engineer and I was still invited.

I too am invited and I was asked the same questions... For those that are going did you get your journal and camera yet? Not too sure what all this is about they want pictures of your family, you dressed for work, your work place, you computer room, beadroom, stereo, and etc... Not too sure I want everyone or even them seeing what I have in my house etc... Jay how did you hear about these people or how did they find you? Whats everyones take on this?

Just got all that stuff in the mail too. I don't mind the journal taking, but the pictures of yourself and all your personal stuff is kinda weird. I'll probably take some pics of the non-personal stuff like my computers and let them know I'm not comfortable with the other stuff.
