Will IB be 22nm? That would be crazy if intel has a 22nm just as AMD rolls out 32nm.

When is the 11nm coming out 2014 . After that what happens cuz is there such thing as 1nm , but then what happens after 1nm ? I mean should people make the move to Ivy or wait until 11nm and then 1nm Im guessing in 2016 what happens after dat.. we dont know. Could be negative numbers LOL

Not a chance of seeing a 6 core that low. Lowest 6 core i can imagine seeing on 2011 will be 450-500 dollars

yeah but BD should be out like 5months before hand... Where BD might have the performance crown? in stuff that uses many threads. Hopefully rake up some sales for AMD.

Intel more or less always has a advantage when it comes to fab production... they re usually useing smaller nm cpus.


Anywhooo bulldozer design looks more promising than the current phenom's, so thats always a good thing, provideing a better alternative to intel than there is currently.

Time will tell. When the i7 originally launched, it defined the enthusiast entry-level CPU at $200-300. If SB-E could launch at 300-400 for a hexacore CPU, that would be huge. Don't forget other barriers to this platform such as more expensive MB's and quad-channel RAM. For those with multi-GPU setups and who want the very best, this platform could be very good.

I've read there will be quad-cores at entry level (Wikipedia), but it isn't there any more.

Well a site like usually Xbit doesn't post news that specific and that detailed unless they think it was a reliable source. However, I was surprised I hadn't seen other sites posting similar stories, so I brought it here. You are clearly a more reliable source, so I'll take your word on this.

AMD is of course reserving itself the rights to postpone the shipment to Q2 2012 (usual tech delays; from no functional demo on CeBit in March to shipment in June? no, no, no...) 😀 😀 😀

Its not about postponing shipments, its just about accuracy. I would think amongst all the speculation that people would appreciate knowing actual facts.

Not to mention that Moore's Law is not about technology shrinks.

Technology shrinks are just an economically viable method of sustaining Moore's Law (which itself deals with the number of components contained in an IC as a function of time).

Whenever the economics of process technology shrinks become non-viable it will then be replaced with some other method of producing computing devices of ever more complexity.

3D chip stacking is one such viable/practical candidate. As is multi-state processors (beyond binary but not quite analog, think MLC NAND Flash as an example).

What should impress all of you is not that technology shrinks are going to result in semiconductor devices that scale to the dimensions of mere atoms but rather that the technological successor to that era will be born from the genius of children who probably aren't even born yet.
