It's possible, fixed drivers and a $100 price drop might do it.

Agreed. 17 months after the 7970, with nothing new is a joke at $1000. They are taking advantage of duopoly pricing to the max. (btw 7990 not 7790 unless you know something about the 7790 that I don't)

If the drivers get fixed, it has the game bundles so it would possibly be an even better "deal" (I use the term lightly) then the 690/Titan with nothing except perhaps similar FPS (690) and less FPS (titan). In my opinion driver fix in place, all 3 are on equal footing. However, that is almost a waste of speculation because it's not in place. Hence the comment above.

Yep....Pretty much sums it up.

Pricing wise once available we'll see. Im thinking it currently is a market test....Who knows miners may swoop all available.

I don't know what's different from my rig and the rigs used to test some of these games. I only used that article/site since that is the one the friend asked me about, but I'm going to guess other sites show zero/negative scaling for WoW/Batman: AC.

I'm also using old drivers, I have't updated my drivers yet.

^This. The 7990 being the worse of the three doesn't all of a sudden make the other two any better. $600 worth of O/C'd 7950's will beat any of them.

On their rigs? Or mine? I doubt theirs, they use better CPUs than me, and if mine is CPU Bottlenecking why am I getting any scaling when they are getting zero scaling?

If it really is down to what Blackened said, odd that they use such an outdated build of a game.

What it really makes me wonder is if anyone at AMD ever reads the reviews of their cards?

Its sad that this gen has been out THAT long and prices are still rediculously expensive for the entire lineup.

I think it's a halo thing. For the longest time they had the fastest single GPU, with the 7970, and it didn't bother them that they didn't have the fastest single card. Titan changed that and they didn't have anything to directly compete with it. The 7990 gives them the fastest single card crown back.

OK, so what the heck are they going to do with this crown?
Halo product role is to reaffirm the brand name; it's an evidence to public about company prowess in extreme engineering.
The problem here being that 7990 chose a really bad moment to be tested, because majority of reviewers are moving away from raw fps, and are actually paying attention to gameplay/fluidity in multi-GPU test.

So 7990 wins no mind-share back, not among enthusiasts, press, investors, it even leaves it's kookiest fanbase flatfooted.
What this card really does, it only reaffirms AMD's #2 position in GPU market.

In essence it's no biggie; AMD wasted few dollars, but more importantly missed opportunity.

I'm not saying that AMD didn't screw the pooch here, again. If you read what they are saying though it's being marketed as the fastest card in the world. They must have felt that it was important to be able to say this. It also gives them a new product in a more visible market than the 7790 (which was also a fail because it was so easy for nVidia to counter). It's a halo product, 7 free games, yada, yada, yada. Not having the drivers ready? Fail! Releasing a product that doesn't really bring anything new to the table in price or performance? Fail again! Being so concerned with TDP that the card throttles at stock speeds? Double fail! Having the TDP throttle set in such a way that it can't even O/C? Epic fail! They've released a product that accentuates all of it's weaknesses and removed it's biggest possible strength.

The worse part is that all of these issues are fixable. 1, The new drivers appear to work. 2, An AWSUM switch could fix the TDP/overclocking. If it needs a more robust PCB then it should have been given it. AMD has never had an issue with their reference boards being fragile in the past. So, this shouldn't be a problem. 3, Lower the price. Since they couldn't break new ground performance wise they should have given better performance at a lower price.

All I can say about the timing is maybe the rumors of nVidia releasing the 700 series real soon are true. Or, AMD feels that they might be true and felt the need to strike now. This so reminds me of the 7970 launch that was so badly screwed that even today people think the 680 is faster than the 7970 and are willing to pay more for it.

update:just installed 13.5B2(without 13.4 cap1) and first playing crysis 3 maxed out(smaa 4x),nearly increased 25-30% performance and much much smoother than 13.3 beta 3!!!,and custom profile set with radeon pro as always.Performance increase and so smooth,it's simply a joy ride with crysis 3 now...thx amd

Sounds good. Are they still making crossfire profiles as Caps? I thought they were doing away with that?
