6970 - $350
6990 - $700

Notice the cheaper the single GPU card, the more expensive the Dual GPU card.

This card will be $850 just like the made up roadmap says. It would be better value than a 7970 then. If they do the same thing they did with the 6990 it will be faster than 7950 crossfire, but cheaper. Then maybe someone in this thread will stop whining and maybe get that card.

Which would making it a much better value than the 7970, and with only needing one block for CF a go to choice for water coolers.

I'll be keeping my eye out for this one, I don't care for the stock cooler, but a single peen shaped water block would work nicely. The only concern here is that they might skimp out of the small things thus reducing overclocking potential.

Doubt anyone including myself could really justify this card for 1080p and for me that's a first,so i will just settle for my gtx560 sli i got planned today....but which of you folks are crazy enough to purchase this?

Since you asked, I have been considering selling my TriFire setup & moving over to 2 of these as part of my attempt at "future proofing" for next year's upgrade to a 65" - 70" Quad HD display (3840x2160).

If the 6990 is anything to go by, the PCB should be pretty robust.

This is what I was thinking. Cheaper for a 7990 and the associated block than two 7970s and two blocks. Overclocking headroom is a question that remains.

It won't be double the price of an hd7970 because it won't have 7970 crossfire performance. An hd7970 uses more power than an hd6970, so expect a pair cutdown tahiti chips similar to what the hd6990 had with cayman chips (maybe a little more so in this case). I expect it to be twice as much as an hd7950.

They can bring back the AUSUM with "defaut" set to stay within the PCI-E limit and AUSUM switch to blow the crap out of the limit and OC itself to higher speeds.

They didn't once, no reason they wouldn't do it again.

No doubt the card will likely be just like the 5970 and 6990 before it. Two full Tahiti cores with lower clock speeds. Overclock it and save $150 over 7970 Crossfire.

Have some of you people never seen, I don't know... a computer case?
Many case fans (intake) on decent cases have meshes or similar. My Coolermaster from 2003 or so had one, the main issue was it was impossible to remove to clean on a regular basis. The revamped version had an easy to remove mesh.

Nothing wrong with putting a filter over your intake fan. Prevents dust bunnies as well. My HD4850 got one and nearly died from overheating because of it.

I'm guessing a msrp of $1100-$1200. Amd sells 7970 for $550-$600 and you better believe they want $550-$600 for each 7970. There will be no price breaks. Period. Until competition arrives from nvidia expect amd to milk you for every red cent.
Nice card. Seems a little overkill for the games available today and anything that will be released for the next year but the epeen factor is off the charts.

But these probably aren't 7970 chips on it, but 7950's.

They're probably 7970s, just downclocked. Card will be out before the end of the month, maybe we will see specs shortly and then reviews will be in a few weeks.

On your mobo they would only run at 8x/8x, to make use of that nf200 chip you have to populate 3 PCI-E slots. You can always do 7990+2x7970

Nice looking card indeed...2 x8 pins, and I thought 28nm was a step down in power requirements?..LOL

What does this even mean? As the chips got "smaller" my power requirements kept going up.

4pin FDD cable to 4pin molex to 2x4pin molex to 6pin PCIE, to 2x6pin PCIE, to 8+6pin PCIE.

CPU's went from no cable to 4pin, to 2x4pin.

If that was a joke, ...well then...BOOOO! Not funny!

That's got to be CG. Why is the DVI color different in this one
0123078011zgs04ln6akl1.jpg

than this one
012308h8dyd3al8j0pqz0a.jpg

And have you ever seen a DVI connector with a mirror finish like that, with tiny round retaining hole mounts?

I also like how they forgot to actually put individual gold fingers on the XFire connector in the second one.

What?....I said...nice card....WTF is hard to work out there......I then went on to say, 2x9 pin, i though less power requirements with smaller die?...I have no idea what the rest of your bleat is about?....

AMD really is pushing the Batman angle. First the colors, now even the geometric shapes resemble the Batmobile circa Chris Nolan.

Honestly, you shouldn't expect anything less than $799.

Also the complaining 7xxx pricing people, you should be rebuking nvidia for being an even bigger greedy gut. The upper video cards are subpar and they are Still charging the same or more for them. Just get over it already.

It's crazy to think that there are some people out there who are still paying those ridiculous prices for the 580's...

3 pages as the result of renders done by anonymous...

There's no proof these are genuine but being CGI doesn't mean they're fake either if that's what you're implying. Plenty of companies use CGI pics of their products in their marketing and promotional materials. It's not journalism so there's no concern about "doctoring" images.
