It's a lot closer than I expected. It looks like there will be some tradeoffs whichever way you go, which I assumed would be far more clear. I'm curious to see the regular Fury and how it compares, I guess it's going to be a clearer choice.

23% faster than r9 390x in 4k
how is this card only 23% faster than 390x?
perfrel_38403blm4.gif

in dragon age only 17%??!!
dai_3840_2160q0uao.gif

vs 390x
46% more SP
30% more memory bandwidth
45% more TMU
Same rops only 64

so it must be hard ROP bottleneck

Edit:

So it is because slow tesellation and ROP bottleneck

I'm wondering why it's water cooled if it won't overclock very much?

Does it just draw that much power?

If you're married to using AMD products, you now have a price equivalent equal to the 980ti. For everyone else there isn't my much to see here or any reason to switch.

Not a card for me. I will pass and keep my 290s.

Performance was worse than expected it seems. Why are reviewers adding project cars to their line up? This game was a known performance blunder.

I'm pretty brand agnostic and have owned both Nvidia and AMD. Initial results are kind of disappointing. I think I may go the 980ti route, particularly because of over clocking potential.

Anyone remember that ChipHell leak from last year? 51-56% faster than R290X. Bang on!

"In UHD scenarios this card is easily able to trade blows with the GTX 980 Ti (if it wasn’t for a lack of optimizations in Dying Light, it would actually be ahead by 2%) and gives the uber expensive TITAN X a swift kick in the pants."

I mean you aren't allowed to try to overclock the cards with voltage.

Why brag about overclocking and then restrict it?

Especially when it looks like the card needs it to compete?

Only the Memory is said to be locked. No news about the core being locked, yet.
