I know that but my question is, why bother when they have already a 6400 BE? Some ppl will say it's worth for the fan alone but different specs IMO would be better. I mean wouldn't it be better to release a 6800 X2 instead for $190-200?

The black edition does not include a heatsink, which is why the regular one costs 10$ more.

The picture of the one with the fan is really confusing. Searching the SKU shows that it is a Black Edition. But the box design seems to indicate otherwise. The only other picture I found on Froogle shows one with the Black Edition black box.

I think it's the exact same cpu with a fan which I guess makes it a better deal.

I don't think AMD can gather up enough 90nm cores that will run at 3.4GHz, and anyway, the power consumption would be insane.

AMD is transitioning away from 90nm completely right now, so they're probably just trying to get rid of as many X2 6400+ chips as they can.
