im wondering, since this has a 3 year warranty can you just buy it now and RMA it to AMD in the future when fixed steppings come out.

I would think so. I wonder they are not on recall if it is that bad.

I think its more like ~15% better on most benchmarks (although it is worse on some). However, performance and price are not a 1:1 equation for cpu's - there is usually a parabolic effect.

I want AMD to do well. Competition is great, but I'd hold out for the January Intels or grab a Q6600 now. Until AMD shows that its Quadcores can compete, I would hate to get locked into the architecture.

This is a good deal for anyone who already has a AM2/AM2+ system, but I wouldn't invest in a new MB for this.
