Brotherman, it's simple:

<< Die sowieso schon preisgünstige Duron-Familie lässt sich prima übertakten. >>

Dammit if those Duron processors aren't great overclockers.

<< Dank guter Kühlung lief im Testcenter der PC-WELT beispielsweise ein Duron 700 bei 1 GHz noch stabil. >>

But we still can't get even the 700MHz chip stable over 1GHz.

<< Doch damit ist jetzt Schluss. >>

That sucks.

<< Ab sofort stattet AMD alle Sockel-A-Prozessoren (siehe Glossar) mit Übertaktungsschutz aus. >>

Oh well, who went to the David Hasselhof concert last night?

See? Foreign languages can be easy when you predict what they are likely to say. I'd say probably three of the four sentence translations here are correct. Not really sure onthe second sentence, though.

The anyhow good value Duron family is easy to overclock (übertakten). Thanks to good cooling a 700 Duron ran in test lab stable @ 1Ghz. Well that's over now. As of today all AMD socket a cpu's are produced with an overclocking lock.
Next is a list with serials of chips that DO overclock.

I was hoping the David Hasselhof line would point to the heavy use of sarcasm without the need for a :) In fact, I too am mystified by foreign languages, though I do speak a little francais, which isn't really foreign, since I do live in Canada.

As an apology, here is the Altavista translation:

Note: AMD brakes PCUs

The anyway already low-priced Duron family leaves itself prima to over clocks. Owing to good cooling for example a Duron 700 ran with 1 GHz still stably in the test center of the PC WORLD. But thus is now conclusion. Immediately AMD equips all base a processors (see glossary) with over clocking protection.

Who wants to buy still another AMD-CPU now to over clocks, should absolutely pay attention to the seriennummer. The following series are unprotectedly delivered over-clock-willing: AEEA0020GPBW AKAA0022MPMW AKAA0024DPBW AKAA0027BPAW AKBA0029TPAW AKBA003ÈPAW AKBA003ÃPAW AKBA003ÃPBW AKBA0037DPNW AKBA0037UPBW

So according to this article, we should be seeing multiplier-lock Durons soon.

Still, I'd like some confirmation on this before I rush out to buy, especially after all the rumours last year of Intel's phantom FSB lock.

Craig
