AMD price cuts

since the Opteron146 has been pulled down to $446, does this mean the FX-51 is getting riced the same too? (as it is almost exactly the same thing!)

ya, it's getting riced out! side skirts, neons, and a huge @ss spoiler (AMD sticker will add 300+ MHZ). 😀

Uh, anyway, The FX will probably get a price cut later this year. I don't believe this cut relates to the A64 or a64-FX

Any news on price cuts of the P4EE? I bought mine a month ago, but I was hoping the price would come down so I could make a secondary system....

When Intel puts out a new top-end CPU, it usually takes the old top CPU's price when they're bumped down. So, basically... no. The P4EE will stay wicked expensive until Intel brings out something newer, or they feel like AMD is making serious inroads with the A64 (which might happen sooner rather than later given these price cuts!)

I think I remember reading something about the P4EE being so expensive because Intel knew no one was going to buy them in the first place. Everybody is still waiting on prescott.

I'm betting on AMD to slash A64 prices when Intel finally introduces it's prescott sometime next year. When prescott would likely cost upwards around 500 dollars.

They haven't been officially launched yet - so stop complaining. They will be officially lauched on the 4th of November according to the latest rumors. If they are unavailable at that date, THEN you can complain...

I hope you know Nebor doesn't have a P4EE. He just likes to say silly things.

Of course if it isn't launched yet, then Nebor didn't buy one. I just have a pet peeve of fanboys complaining that they cannot buy a product that wasn't launched yet. Yes, the day that Intel says it is available and it isn't available then Nebor's silliness would be a valid complaint (my definition of a paper launch). But you can't complain yet - since Intel has not yet said it would be available.
