AMD has just released their Q2 Quarterly Earnings statement and Q3 guidance. They have almost a billion cash on hand and beat analysts predictions by $0.03 per share. Strong custom SoC was a big driver, as well as graphics. Stock is now up 80% for the year :)

They actually posted an accurate non-GAAP profit this quarter! This is all without the refreshed Polaris and still way before Zen. The company is definitely headed in the right direction.

Stock is up over 10% in after hours trading due to these strong numbers. Good news for every enthusiast out there!

There is a thread about AMD financial for this quarter in the AMD subforum.

Post in there please.

By "enthusiast" don't you mean "AMD shareholder"?

No I mean enthusiasts. You think nVidia prices are bad now? Think about if there was no AMD. They could release slower and charge even more. Hell, even with a gap in just the high end allowed nvidia to charge $700 for a 330mm^2 chip!

If NVDA stock was cheaper I would have bought lots of that too, you better believe that! That includes TSMC as well. Simple fact is investors in AMD have made more money this year than Nvidia investors so it looks like many made the right choice.

It's a bit strange when a small loss is hailed so greatly and stock surges. :)

Man, AMD has been in the red for so long...

That's the thing, imagine once they start eating a bit of the ultra lucrative server market with 128 thread dual socket Zen systems? And then Vega chips then their true trump card.. Zen APU. There won't be anything like it out in the market, a solid CPU with Vega cores and 16gb HBM, gaming laptops can actually work on battery with those, ultra small form factor HTPCs with better than console graphics.. lots of good stuff on the horizon.

Non-GAAP results are only good internally for AMD. They're at an $8m loss. In saying that though, the marginal profit/loss between Q1 and Q2 net income/loss shows a good $60m increase in profit/reduction in loss which is probably due to selling upcoming console APUs for the PS4 Neo and Xbox Scorpio. At this rate I think it's fair to say we will see AMD actually making a profit this year. Lets just hope they don't flop with the release of the 470 and 460 since a lot of my friends are dying for a cheap and relatively powerful 14/16nm card to replace our crappy ones at current (inflated prices here in Australia so AMD is the pure winner in price to performance)

You must mean the investors still around after there stock plummeted previously. You might need to show proof of making more money for investors, as I dont believe that for a second.

His qualifier was "this year". You can put down the pitchfork and torch.

AMD is out performing every other stock I hold by far. Good thing I didn't listen to the experts at the beginning of the year it must hurt badly not to get in when it was under $2.

The experts are really hack investor "journalists" that have no clue whats going on. How could anyone writing ANYTHING about silicon valleys not know AMD was far from dead with Zen on the horizon? They were an absolute steal at 2$ this February.

Many have an agenda their reasoning for not buying AMD often makes no sense at all. Or they flat out state they recommend the competition.
