Yes, you can install an AM3 processor in an AM2+ motherboard. Just check the mobo CPU compatibility list.

That's the great thing about AM3 CPUs, AM2+ mobos take them. So when I need to upgrade my motherboard I can take my tri-core (unlocked to quad core) CPU with me to an AM3 motherboard, and then move to Bulldozer when I feel like it.

any ram is fine ddr2 or 3 depending on the board I use ddr2 800mhz just keep the ram divided. I just got a PII 945 stock 3.0 and with a small bump in vcore I am at 3.6 very stable with no desire to go higher and I think I have the crappyer stepping.

The multiplier on this chip is 15x so you'd only need 240HTT for 3.6ghz. Most motherboards should do that pretty easily.
