Newegg also has the AMD Phenom II 920 Quad Core AM2+ Processor for $195 - $15 Code AMD1815 = $180 with free shipping.

Yes it is.....but only because the other poster was so vague, no prices or coupon codes. 😀

I'm seriously thinking about the 920 model myself. Should be compatible with my AMD 780v motherboard with a bios upgrade from MSI's site.

i've still got a few trusty amd64 boxes around. but havent bought amd in a couple years ever since c2d. Phenom II looks promising though.. but II is what the original Phenom should have been originally

Going to hold out for the $99 deal.

can you elaborate?

Just hoping quad core drops to below $100....I'm sure it will eventually.

I would imagine that could take a while.

the am3 800 series (2mb of l3 disabled) and the propus though I think woudl be much cheaper earlier.

You can get one here for $110, but it is only 2.3GHz. Still a quadcore for around $100. with that rebate it brings the CPU/MB combo down to $170 with a board that is known to support the new PhII chips.
