Ticktanium2038... As I've said before, the problem that people have with you is not your AMD slant. Hell, the vast majority of people here are AMD fans.

The problem is that you post things as if they were fact, when in reality they have no factual basis at all. The "1 million Opterons sold in nine months" comment is a perfect example. You picked a number out of the air, and ran with it. Not only that, but you still refer to it as if it were fact, many posts later.

And then when people ask for some sort of reference to what you are saying, you never provide it.

Add those things together and it should be obvious why your posts don't command respect.

Not to mention
AMD OWNS 100% MARKET SHARE OF 64 BIT COMPUTING
No other manufacturer has ever sold even (1) 64 bit CPU? Somehow, I think that is just a bit off. I'd say AMD's total 64 bit market share is fairly small at this point.

Its impossible to say how many AMD processors will sell in the next 9 months. Granted it is hypothetical. I am throwing numbers out there. That I do admit. I never said that they will sell 1 million. I used that figure for the analogy. Even if AMD sells a mere half million that is a decent consumer base and its nearly a half million more than anyone else. But thats not to say they wont sell 3 million either by the second half of next year which is a prediction by some.

This I do know. Opterons are Selling and beginning next year with the 939 pin they will sell a lot more. They are affordable but many of us would like to see the price decrease a little more. But thats not stopping consumers from buying. Maybe we arent buying right now but plenty of other people are. In fact Major corporations have been buying up supplies. Cray for one.

Lets use current existing numbers of AMD processor sales.

Taken from Overclockers Article.
AMD's quarterly production of CPUs over the past few years has been in the range of 6,000,000-8,000,000 CPUs a year

AMD Anticipates Hammer sales in the neighborhood of 350-400,000 by years end. By First Quarter 1.5 Million Hammers will be sold, By the second half of next year 4+ Million. These are running total numbers.

So me painting a picture of 1 Million is being reserved compared to what AMD is expecting to do. Especially in light of Prescott being delayed.

Sorry I have to quote the Inquirer and Overclockers.com to back me on these numbers but here they are.

http://www.overclockers.com/articles839/

This CPU is being Priced, Sold, Marketed, and Targeted against a 32 bit CPU. If AMD does achieve 3-4 million by Mid Next year that puts them near 7 Million before 2005. Competition will be difficult against a consumer base that large.

I consider myself an AMD fanboy, but Tick has taken it to a whole other level for sure! :D
