I am currently at 2.5.... I did it with a mobile barton and PC3200 RAM... I could probably go higher but I would need to sit down for a day or two to tweak everything and make sure it is prime stable... I don't have that kind of time

See my sig for my rig

I assume you're talking about air cooling (not water).

If so, the mobile's will do it pretty regularly. Particularly Mobile 2600+ IQYHA

I don't know anything about A64s but I also have had my XP-M @ 2.5GHz. I didn't like the voltage though so I backed it down to 2.4GHz and then 2.3GHz (where I can run with 1.60Vcore).

My XP-M 2600+ runs at 2.375Ghz with no problems, but that's with a picky Epox board that doesn't like a FSB higher than 190 and PC2700 RAM.

Many are doing it on air.
I can hit 2772 with my Koolance Water system, and I'm limited by the memory, which I'll be sending back soon. Basically, it comes down to upping the multiplier or FSB, DDR Ram voltage to 2.8, and CPU voltage to about 1.725.

I've OCed my FX53 to 2600 while leaving the CPU voltage at the stock 1.55.

You can read all about my system and how I OC here.

I assembled my A64 2800+ over the weekend and so far am up to 2.4GHz on the retail AMD cooler at stock voltage. Prime stable overnight so far, I"ll see if it's still Priming when I get home from work.

But that says it should have quite a bit more room. People are getting in the 2.5 GHz range on air, and 2.7 range on water from the Newcastles. I wouldn't expect 2.7 on air. People are getting closer to 2.6GHz out of the 90nm Winchester core S939 processors.

Realistically there isn't a whole lot of need for such crazy high CPU speeds if you're gaming though. If you take a look at the gaming benchmark page from the recent AT P4EE article:
http://www.anandtech.com/cpuch...c.aspx?i=2261&p=13
You see that a 3800+ (2.4GHz S939) doesn't prevent very playable FPS in ANY game they tested. Worst case was 55 FPS in the Sims 2. So really if you're gaming, you don't need to worry about getting much above 2.4GHz, as in most cases you'll be setting the video card such that it will limit frame rates much lower than what the CPU can handle.

Obviously, there are other applications that will benefit from extra CPU though.

He has a 3000+ that runs at a default frequency of 1800 on the 939 so he has a 672mghrtz overclock not a 72mhgrtz overclock on air! That is pretty snappy for a 180 cpu to run at near FX-53 (L2 cache is less) levels

youre in the wrong place for high overclocks. go to a site that caters to phase change cooling

My Newcastle is at 2.450 GHz, I think it would go highier but my EPoX board doesn't want to.

the fx-55 gets to about 2.9 to 3.0ghz on air. with water cooling, expect 3.2ghz.

Hehe nice job Concillian:)

I have 3000AX @ 2630 but I'm H2O so it's not real representative. I always preach every AX NC will hit 2.4 on air, if not, your board or poor ram or just poor OC skill is holding you back. No guarntees but almost.

how'd you do it?

Sempron 3100+ (1800 mhz), chaintech socket 754 board

I can get it to 2.51 ghz and can do windows stuff, but my memory is holding me back.

Its stable at 2450 mhz, or a 650 mhz overclock.

I'm getting 2.55Ghz on 1:1 FSB/RAM on 1.55v I've gotten it past 2.6 and prime is stable but after i flashed the bios to 1.4 it lost stability at 2.6+ so will flash back to 1.3 :) i heard the 1.4 bios cheats the memory speeds (OC's them) so it causes the ram to run beyond maximum spec.
