AMD or Intel ?

I have an AMD XP2500 w/512MB of pc2700. I wish to upgrade but am not sure as to what (AMD AM2 3500,Intel Pentium D, Conroe). I will also need a new MOBO and DDR2 RAM. I don't O/C and I don't play many games - just simple ones. Whicg direction should I go? What is better for my purposes? Is a 6150 board better? Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated. Thanks
 
Defintely go Conroe.

A board with any integrated chipset should be fine, though for gaming I'd just pick the 6150 cause it's a Geforce 😀

 
find the motherboard that better fits what you want and put the memory and the cpu that fit on it. Intel or AMD are plenty sufficient for normal use...
