Well, that's the eternal question, isn't it!

Personally, I feel that the best O/C er right now is a Duron. This is true mainly due to price IMO- the savings will let you spend more for cooling, mb, quality memory, etc which will make the odds of getting a successful O/C better

Get a AMD Duron or thunderbird the duron is great overclocker My $55 duron beats a P3@1GHZ in all benchmarks. I would not even think of buying a Intel product at the present time not to say Intel is bad just way to exspensive.

Why spec out a system specifically for OCing? Aren't you looking for a certain level of performance within your price range? If you want to OC, buy a PIII600 and water cool it. If you just want performance buy a 1.2GHz T-Bird. What are you trying to accomplish?

it really comes down to what the machine is going to be used for and what you're aiming at. however if you're interested in value and preformance which is what i'm assuming your goals of OC'ing are, i'd go with and AMD system. Durons are great for OC'ing and have a much higher chance of hitting 1ghz then the celerons, as well as the can't-beat-with-a-stick price. if you want preformance a tbird will definitely satisfy your needs. but you really can't go wrong with most amd systems running above 1ghz

i recently purchased a duron 800, and i have it at 1.1GHz now...it cost me 69 dollars off of an e bay auction. now, if i were to buy a p3 800, it would have been around 170, plus if i wanted to OC, id need a fan*heatsink for at least 20 dollars. i thought i was getting a not-so-good deal because the p3's were better...but i was wrong. my friend has a p3 Cco OCed to 1.1, and my duron at 1.1 is just as good if not better. we both have the same RAM, HDD, Vcard, and the mobo stats are the exact same. we tested a few games like Q3A, HalfLife, Serious Sam, and so on. the results were: my duron got better FPS in Q3A and Serious Sam (new game coming out, its in the test stage right now), and our halflife FPS were very close to the same (92 - 97 for me, 90 to 100 for him). i dont know if there is even relevance to this post, but i just thought id let you know how the two compared in my amatuer bench-testing hehe.

I think i'm gonna go Duron (as cheap as possible) because they are all the same and ABit KT7 FOP32 and stuff and get it running 1GHz. Thanks guys for your help!
