AMD or Celeron?

Hi,

I am undecided between the following
1.Acer TravelMate 1353FLC Athlon 2.4 and
2.243fxc smaller screen celeron 2.5

My main uses ar watching DVD movies, bit of photoediting internet and e-mail.

Any suggestions which processor would be better?

i would go with the athlon
they are much more powerfull than the celeron clock for clock

Any chance of getting a wide aspect notebook at about 1000$? for DVD movie?

Another qustion the specs of some do NOT mention S Video out. Then how do you connect to a TV?

DEFINATELY go Athlon unless battery life is siginficantly better for the celeron, which I don't think it should be.

never ever buy a celeron. You should read the review on this site regarding the celeron. An duron 1600 will OWN a celeron at 2.8.

Thanks all. I am planning to buy in Bangkok so rebate etc. wont work. Will look for the HP in Bangkok however.

eMachines also sells an Athlon XP widescreen for close to $1K. The Toshiba Pentium M widescreen looks nice, and will probably be more reliable than the comparable HPs/Compaqs, but it's probably closer to $1300 without rebates.

And stay away from Celerons if you plan on doing any computationally-intensive work at all.

Sold it within 4 months...
