AMD Opteron 244

opteron 244 is an A64 that uses socket 940 and can be used in dual processor rigs. (2)44. 144 is the same but can't be used dual proc. 844 can be used in up to 8-cpu rigs. Since they are 940, they require ECC/Reg memory, support dual channel and have 1meg cache.

What Lithian said. The 244 runs at 1.8 ghz. The Athlon64's run at anywhere from 1.8 to 2.4 ghz. If you have tons of cache, or use software that is SMP aware, they are nice, otherwise stick to the Athlon64 series.
