amd opteron 165 back in stock! 299 OEM!! stock up

I don't want to make a new topic, but there is a place (nowmicro.com) that sells Opteron 165s for $304.20 with the coupon code: amdcust

A week ago, the processor was 287.50, now it has gone up. The only problem with this website, they do not send you any information about shipment or status order unless you call them. I got a fedex tracking number about 4 hours after Fedex stop by my house.

Now I have a real delimma. Use the 144 which arrives on Monday or the 165. The order from nowmico went in at $314 shipped. Figure I can ebay one or the other and reduce my upgrade cost.

It's not going to drop any more, if you do the "wait a month and it'll fall" you'll find there will be no more to buy. AMD is not selling these to anyone but OEMs anymore, what's left in the warehouses is it.

Why would AMD be unhappy about consumers purchasing these? For the most part its going to be a small market of consumers who purchase them in the first place (High end techie types who want the best of the best), but a sell is a sell is a sell. Isnt it?

And anyone got a good link for bench differences in games vs say the most compareable x2?

yes.. if you get the OEM.. you will need a heatsink fan... and some thermal paste as well..
