I'm curious if SquareEnix, etc. make more or less money by selling steam keys cheap to AMD/NV, than if they didn't bundle the games. Anyone have stats on this? I am 100% NOT INTERESTED in what it costs AMD or NV, I am asking about the videogame companies' perspective--does Square, DICE, etc. make more or less money. Just to clarify.

They make much more money with a Steam sale for $49.99 than giving the keys to nVidia or AMD. AFAIK they pay Valve a certain amount of money (10 - 30%) for the infrastructure and get the rest.
That's the reason why EA, Ubisoft, Square Enix etc. started their own plattform to get rid of the payment.

Well I'm sure they do get some cash from AMD/NV, but they probably getting help with QA and development, that probably worth different amounts to each company. I'm sure a company like Square Enix that has been pumping out great ports like they have must get a lot of benefit from that.

That's a good point, I guess they trade with each other "in kind" in that respect.

Most online retailers take a 30% cut of the sale price, that's actually a pretty standard percentage. In addition to Steam, that's the cut that Apple takes from the App Store and Google takes from Google Play.

Could be any of a variety of reasons. Could be salary, could be politics in the existing job, feeling lack of opportunity, etc. Some people just want to try new things, a change of scenery. Maybe some coming back to AMD feel a true desire to help out the company. Money is important, but many other things come in to play for top executives, who lets face it will not be in dire financial straights whatever their position.
