Can we expect the new cores anytime this year? I'm looking forward to getting a low-voltage 1GHz Palomino micron shrink... on a 266DDR bus/memory chipset :) What's the latest word?

Nah, Monday is the day for AMD-760 and 266MHz FSB Tbirds. I'll keep my fingers crossed, but pessimistically (hey, at least one won't be dissapointed) I'm guessing late November/December for "Athlon Ultra" Mustang with 512kb-1Mb L2 cache and January...February/2001 for "Athlon" Mustang, the Palomino. I see no reason for AMD to hurry with "Duron" Mustang, Morgan for current Duron is almost too powerful for a budget CPU.

since Intel is lagging behind, AMD will take their time.
but I heard a Athlon with 266 fsb is due monday.
I don't know if [Athlon with 266] is a [Mustang] or a [Tbird'EB']
once again, they can just paper Launch it.

I don't think AMD is going to rest with the P4 on its way sometime soon. they aren't going to pull an Intel (when AMD released the Athlon, Intel wasn't ready for it).

they're going to make things as hard on Intel as possible, by keeping their clockspeeds as high as possible, therebye reducing the jump in speed that the public sees when the P4 comes out (in pure mhz that is).
