AMD may have held back on dual core....

Wow. That was an interesting read. I dont think they held it back for 5 years but they worked out the idea 5 years ago or thereabouts.
 
Lets see how long it takes you to get an idea like that from concept to production. I'm pretty sure it's going to take more than 5 years.

Stuff like that takes a lot of time. And AMD took their time to make sure they had everything working perfectly before they shoved dual cores out the door.

Definately... that's one of the main reasons we haven't seen dual cores until now. At 130nm the die would be HUGE.

The K8 was in the works from late 98. They had dual cores floating around the company in feb 2004.
