I would like to see power draw figures but I'm glad it is finally out. Hope to see a review soon. Looking good though!

I'm curious about what their TDP target is. 45W? 35W? Do they have a 15W product?

I'll be buying a 4-6W Intel based laptop soon, probably Gemini Lake when it comes out. It would be nice to have some AMD choice for that.

This is a full version of my comment at the Raven Ridge thread.

GPU:
-Use of 3DMark Time Spy makes it look way better than it is. GPUs with comparative Time Spy scores pummel 2700U on DOTA 2 and Overwatch. That's just because Time Spy is a bad benchmark. Firestrike and 3DMark11(P) is far better.
-Based on two games its on par with 15W Iris parts(with eDRAM)

CPU:
-The performance is to say simply, fantastic. There's a 5x gap between ST and MT score for Cinebench, which means there's no throttling when all cores are active running the benchmark.
-The all-core Cinebench is comparable with full-fledged quad core Intel parts. Meaning 45W.

You get a top performing quad core mobile chip along with great graphics. I don't think the price will be at a value level, you'll likely see it at $1000 level Laptops. Still, AMD tends to price them lower than Intel products.

If they get the battery life competitive, they would have it. For their sake their talk of "1/2 power at 50% more performance" compared to predecessors better mean 1/2 the platform idle power. If they are talking about TDP, they are looking it at the wrong way. Critical point to AMD platforms are lowering platform idle power, that's how you get great battery life in the real world.

I looked at Time Spy more closely.

I don't think its entirely unreasonable Raven Ridge 2700U might become a Skull Canyon in a notebook form factor.

The ST/MT performance of Cinebench is so close to Skull Canyon.

Iris Pro 580 also gets ~900 in Time Spy. In games, it does 20-30% better than Iris 540. Iris 540 is in turn, 30-60% better than HD 520*.

*Intel has not advanced in GPU since the 5xx generation. The figures are true for 620/640 UHD/Iris Plus 620/640 generations.

2700u has impressive Multithread performance and decent ST performance. the CB R15 score of 719 is faster than 7600k and crushes the core i7 8650u. This is amazing performance in a 15w ultrathin notebook. Gaming performance is very good for integrated graphics. AMD has managed to beat Intel in perf and perf/watt in all areas except ST (still close behind). This is an achievement of epic proportions.

The slide says: 5 minute loop

Does it mean the 700 score is not sustainable, and 550 is the more realistic one?



Power management and battery life figures are not encouraging. Better, but does not seem to be enough.

The slide doesn't seem to indicate the fine-grain power states Intel's C6-C10 states allow.

The above slide further demonstrates better-but-not-enough. They claim only 15% improvement in 1080 H.264 playback and 26% increase in MobileMark 2014 battery life. With VP9 they claim 104% increase and that's good, but that can be explained by hardware acceleration.

So AMD claims on that slide Bristol Ridge FX-9800P can reach 10 hours of battery life. Reviews show actual devices fall far short of that.

The otherwise identical Intel-based 820 G4 gets 55% better battery life in H.264, and 92% in Idle, with other figures in the 50-60% range. 15-25% increase won't close the gap.

The new power management technologies used is just a God send present for this type of product.

Aparently bulldozer gives you a hard lesson in power management you dont forget. lol.

These CPU numbers are phenomenal. They demolish anything intel has at comparable power usage (15W). Imagine what they could do with a 45W part? Hello 8 core 16 thread mobile!



Where is the poster who was claiming he "knew" this would be a 35watt part? He based it off how he was reading the code on the leaked benchmarks. Nothing to say now, huh?

Holy crap, I want this in my next laptop, maybe even a Macbook! My 2012 45w i7 + 45w dGPU is competely irrelevant compared to this product.

Let's see what OEM's do with this. Dual channel memory please!

I think these scores led credence to the idea that Apple was testing the 1700 for use in an iMac. If they can get comparable scores to the 6700k in a 15W part that means they can probably get something comparable to the 8700k in 30 watts with good binning. Intel must be freaking out right now.

I wonder if Intel is regretting not picking up the option on contracting with NVDA to use their tech for the iGPU? Strategically I can't tell what INTC is trying to get accomplished? maybe they just figured 10nm parts would be good enough to fight off AMD? If these APU's are as good as AMD is saying they will go from 8% market share to 25% market share in short order. That would be over 4 billion dollars in profitable revenues incremental to what they have now. I'm going to pick up more shares :)

What is the gpu driver used for this stuff?
If its the old driver where vega ngg path is not enabled we will sure have another minor uplift. Especially via the tiled rendering. Its quite important both to improve usable bandwith and to save power. I am sure the hardware is in place for it and working. We just need that crimson december driver to release it.
That is if they didnt use some beta driver where it wasnt enabled already.

even with that in mind I find disappointing specially the Overwatch result, 2400 128bits is still 38GB/s.
