The K6-3+ might make sense for someone with existing board, but the two hot deals posts for 1) Duron 600 @ $47.50 shipped @) AMD SiS socket A motherboard @ $85 + shipping would seem to have the greater potential.

jba is right, it's not worth it to build a new system around the K6-3+. But for upgrading an older SS7 system, it really kicks ass.

Fry's has an AMD K6-III 333mz WITH a Soyo SY-5EMA+ mobo for $74 bucks.

They sell the K6-III for $29 bucks anyday.

You won't find any info on the K6-III 333mz on the AMD website.

This is the Plus version that OCs to 550-600. I have 2 of them .18 micron. Frys .25 micron will never go that high, esp. the 333 duds. I have 2 350s that do 400 Max.

Bob is right. Alot of people have been bumping these K6-III+ 450 to over 600mhz. The regular K6-III could never do that.

My brother just picked up a K63+450 at tigerdirect.com for around $47 or $49, I think. I picked up one for my dad and he's got it running at 616, I think........If your board supports it, it's a heck of a deal.....

Try a place called PCLiquidators. Thats where I got mine about 4 months ago. Runs solid at 600mhz. For more info check out AMD ZONE Forums.

PCLiq. doesn't have anymore either. They sent an e-mail last week, that they had more, but were out when I checked Sat. 1/20.
These were OEM notebook only and not available through auth. channels, as were the slower K6-2+.

I just picked up a K6-III+ at softwareandstuff.com for $54. I'm expecting it to arrive tomorrow. Never ordered from these people before so I can't say how good they are, I'll post again once it arrives and I get it up and running. The strange thing about about this place is that other CPU's they are selling seem extremely overpriced, so we'll see.

Good show Qman71. I just ordered one too, as a spare. Funny how the year older slower K6-III 450 is $200 vs $54 K6-III+ 450.
