I have an AMD KII 450 MHz system on an Asus mobo. this is one super stable computer running Win98 SE.

I haveanother AMD KII 450 MHz system on an Asus mobo runnin Windows ME and it also is super stable and runs all the time without any problems. Both computers have fast 128 megs memory.

Other members of the local computer club I belong to also run Asus mobos and most are using Asus mobo's for its super reliability plus they over clock well. Most are home built computers.

Your problem looks to not be AMD or VIA, but ASUS...scratch the thing with a pocket knife and return it for a refund. Spend the money on a MSI isntead...

<< AMD might be fine for you kids to play with all day, but in the real world stability is the most important aspect of a system and AMD just can't provide that. Ever notice how AMD has no server products? How no companies use AMD products? Makes ya wonder, huh? You kids can keep AMD...they just aren't worth the problems. >>

1) Yes, I've noticed.
2) Yes.
3) No. There are two HUGE reasons for this: Dell, and AMD has no SMP solution. Plain and simple.

Yep, as soon as the Duron can catch on with an integrated chipset it will finally start hacking away at the market share.

I have my MSI K7T Pro2-A on Duron 800 - works perfectly. It is fast and stable.
If you don't like AMD or VIA keep it to yourself. Stop speading propoganda, and go back to the land of Intel and 'Intel inside'.

Hey, I've got an idea. If we all pull together maybe we can make this thread go on eternally! You know, like the never-ending flame or unquenchable flame or whatever it's called. If 24 of us commit ot one post during a specific hour each day for the rest of our lives... Hey, and then we could pass the tradition down to our children! So who's with me?! Anyone..... anyone..... ?;)

JackHawksmoor.... Ill tell you what you need to do.... return the A7V and get a MSI K7T Pro2A.... This isnt a VIA problem, it isnt a AMD Problem, its a Asus problem. I own a A7V and I will be the first to say it is probably one of the most dificult boards to get working correctly.... once/if its working its a good board tho. The A7V has some major BIOS issues.

Funny, I once started a major flame war on the Matrox Users' board when I posted that I switched from a G400 to a GF2MX, simply because the G400 had too many problems and conflicts with my system. I also made note that the GF2MX was a better performer in any 3D application, and 2D quality at 1024x768 was comparable to the G400.

The result?

The exact same insults on this thread, that "The problem is between the keyboard and chair" and that "He is incompetent, he can't even fix his own system" and "I am better than him, I have a similar setup but mine works".

People, at least give him the benefit of the doubt. You don't know his abilities, you only know yours. You don't have his system, all you can do is express your opinion. If he came over to your house with his system, and you fixed it, then by all means call him an idiot (but I highly doubt you would). What you are all doing is being armchair critics when all he did was express his experiences with his system.

I came to AnandTech simply because I thought the users here were above this. Apparently they aren't.

You have it wrong Superbaby.... he came and basically offended every AMD user by blaming the problems he was having on AMD and saying they are not stable and hard to config... he bases this on a MB I personally own and know to be buggy as hell. He asked for what everyone gave him.
