3) People would buy dell/gateway/etc boxes fall into a few simple categories:
a) People who mess up every piece of electronics they touch and NEED the PAY for tech support.
b) People who have more money then brains and buy based on name.
c) People who purchase through work using employee purchase plans.

Thorin

or
d) people who like P4 2.4Ghz systems for $60;)

Last two systems I built were AMD, but I couldn't pass up on the Dell.

I guess I like AMD, just cause they are the underdog. IF AMD had 85% of the marketshare, then I'd like Intel.

I don't ever see myself buying a DELL, unless of course Steve came ot my house and offered me one for a buck...Do00D!

ummm hello,
anandtech is dedicated computer hardware site generally visited by people very much into computer hardware. It would be foolish to consider the average anadtecher to be compareable to the average person on the street in regards to computer choice and equipment.

b) those who dont know anybody actively interested in computers
c) those who just cba.

Weirdness is only relative. If we were all the same there'd be no point in there being more than one of us.
