AMD is great!

I upgraded my computer to an Athlon XP 1800+ and a Gigabyte 7ZXE MB for $255 + $132 CAD. What a deal! I got to use my old PC133 SDRAM, and performance is great! AMD, way to go!!! 🙂 🙂

neff? Dude, this is my first non-useless post in ages 😉

Anyhow, anybody know of a quiet processor fan for the XP? I have a coolermaster and it is very loud.

Shazam. Check out the Zalman CNPS6000 copper heatsink. Just got mine today and it works amazingly well. Utterly silent too unless you NEED the extra cooling (which at 1.47GHz you wont). I've got it on my TBird 1.37GHz which probably runs hotter than your XP chip. On "silent" setting it barely get's warm to the touch, even under prime95 !!!

PS: there's motherboards which'll take PC133 AND DDR? Arse 🙂

I relised that AMD was great ages ago! I have only had AMD based computers. I have had a AMD 486DX2 66, AMD 586 133MHz PR75, AMD K6 233, AMD K6-2 300, AMD Duron 800, and now, AMD Athlon XP 1600+.

Cheers

Sorry??? In my opinion, AMD have always had the best price/performance ratio. Actually, I should correct myself, I had a AMSTRAD 8MHz system unit that was powered by intel, and a 386 that was also powered by intel ..

Cheers.
