I have not been on the market for a new PC in over 7 years, but I kept up to date with the latest technologies :)

My current quest is to build a very low power/fanless PC that can do very well 4k @60HZ and have bit-streaming for audio.

So I've heard so much about AMD's Carrizo and Intel's Skylake platforms, but I am yet to find a mainboard that actually has HDMI 2.0 with HDCP 2.2 and is low power that would work in a fanless case.

I was hoping that Intel would come up with a NUC that has all this, but they don't seem to have on their roadmap at this time.

Am I a bit early looking for this technology?

I'm afraid you're out of luck currently. The only mainboards that can do HDMI 2.0 are a few Gigabyte models. But they're all ATX-sized. Otherwise you need a discrete graphics card, with all the associated drawbacks.

Your best bet will likely be waiting until Intel's Alpine Ridge controller show up in smaller sized products. I wouldn't be surprised if they launch a NUC with it eventually.
