This guy actually reminds me more of that Plastic Surgeon dude from a year or two ago.

Dont dwell on it to much. I came and had some good times. Gnight all. Its funny how we get so riled up over video cards. I wouldnt doubt if Video Cards could cause a world war down the road lol. Signing off on my on board Intel graphics pc.

Well thats true. This is one thing i dont like. Where are the support for us non 8 series users?

is there many problems with the 7 series lot though? remember the architecture behind them has pretty much been around for a long time (since the 6 series) i would be suprised if they had anything other than game compatibility problems with new games to fix. i dont think any major stability or performance enhancements are gonna happen

theyre not getting riled at video cards mate, theyre getting riled at you for being a complete tool.

it usually is. My 8800gtx doesnt work. Nvidia sucks. Im educated so i know its Nvidias fault. Ill buy ATI

how is that even neccessary? seems this "education" doesnt extend much past kindergarten, if at all.

I can't wait to get rid of this card. I have so many problems in BF2 and 2142.

did you get EVGA? You could just step up to the 8800gtx and live life again

I got EVGA, but I think I have seen enough yellow screen and lock up's. My friends have the same problem with GTX.

i used to have a lot of yellow screens too. but the the 158 driver fixed it. have you tried those yet ?

I agree with your first point though. Someone PM the mods about this because from what i can tell, this is 100% trolling.

Well, I dont have an Nvidia card, but I remember recently someone making a thread about how the last Nvidia drivers were from NOVEMBER 2006? I mean, sure there are lots of BETA leaks, but I am talking official ones

Current latest is 158.22/24 i think. Dated somewhere around this month, WHQL.

came out SIX month after the last WHQL release.

Wasnt there 100.65 or something along the lines that was WHQL?

**ignores flame wars completely**
ok so an overclocked 2900xt gets 11260, thats pretty impressive, even when compared to the 8800 ultra. I woould say with that benchmark in place, it will perform around the same level as the 8800gtx.

considering thats with the stock cooler, I bet if you slap on an hr-03+, you can get even more performance outa that card.

edit: yeah, you only need 2x 6pin connectors to overclock this beast as well..

158.18 is the latest Vista WHQL. 158.2x are Vista Beta.

101.70 is Vista Beta.

101.41 is Vista Beta.

100.65 was last Vista WHQL.

Not sure about XP, but I do know G80/XP users were pretty ticked off up 'til a month or so ago.

I believe Nvidia's promise was stated as monthly WHQL drivers, which they have not done, although that may be a misquote.

Since launch is still a few days away, can you or someone run their GTX or GTS @ 2.66Ghz (Core2Duo, of course) and stock vid card clocks? Should help give some perspective.

Thanks in advance.

Here, I just ran my GTX using stock clocks but cpu @ 2.66. 3dmark 06 10640

Yeah....i feel your pain. ATI never locks up and is immune to blue screens and errors. Its to bad ATI doesnt have an OS

I hope your poor attempts at being the new Rollo/Gstanfor get you a quick ban

FYI Ati currently has better drivers all around than Nvidia, specially because they dont take SIX MONTHS to update them

You can take them not updating them two ways.

A. Obviously the way you take it is they are lazy and dont care about their customers.

or

B. Their drivers dont require updating becaause they perform well enough and are stable.

Now personally, I havent had a whole bunch of issues with any Nvidia cards, minus some wierd incompatibility between my 6800GT and NF3 MB when I installed the Nvidia chipset drivers and the CS:Source fog issue for a couple of revisions.

I'll take option A....piss poor performance stability with Vista using a 7 or 6 series GF and no Vista NF3 drivers that allow Nvraid to work....at this rate, when I do my DX10 upgrade in the next couple of months I won't be purchasing anymore Nvidia hardware...even if ATI's newest falls behind in performance a little.

I want to run Vista Ultimate on all my rigs and I want to run it now..Nvidia is making very hard for me to do so reliably, especially when I take in to consideration how reliable my non Nvidia setups run Vista...

FINALLY!

After a long-ass flamefest and some driver talk, we have something to chew on.
Thanks lavaheadache.

Looks like the cards will be comparable -- ousting one another in one game or another depending on the engine.

I've loved my 7900GTO since I got it but drivers have been hit or miss - I'm at work right now but pretty sure I'm using 97.31 and when I tried to upgrade I got minor improvements in performance but an actual decrease in graphic quality - effects didn't look nearly the same or clear

I'm waiting to see how this actually performs - but lets face it - this isn't a GTX killer, doesn't seem to be priced to be one but it might give the GTS a run for its money. At last ATI might show me what they have been delaying for far too long.

Didnt use NVRAID on my NF3 board when I tested RC2. But i didnt have a problem with whatever drivers they were using on my 6800GT.

Personally i found NVRAID to be crap anyways. I always end up using what most boards put on for RAID configs the SIL 3114 controller.

And I have been using an 8800GTS on Business for 2 weeks without any major issues using the latest Nvidia driver. Wifes 6600GT doesnt seem to have a problem in Home Premium.
