I have a gig of Kingston pc3200 RAM. I use to run a dual athlon mp 2200+ with a gig of eec registered ram, but for some reason I didnt like how it worked out.

You could try a raid 0+1 array (little bit better performance and much more data security) if you have money to burn and up it to 2-4GB of memory. Also there are some scsi controlers out there where you can upgrade the memory within them.

Have you considered 2 seperate systems all together? Just have your 4 moniters split 2 for each system. Once you start getting into all these high end components that mayb e the best way to go.

My $0.02:
I would find a good price on a 2.8E or 3.0E (Prescott) P4, invest in at least 1GB of good quality RAM, and 2 Raptors in some RAID config (2x36.7GB for value or 2x74GB for storage+speed). If you are a multitasking fiend, IMO that is your best bet. If I ever get out of gaming ::cringe::, I would consider a P4 HT (or equivalent @ that time) for the better multitasking ability. I love my A64, as it is very fast in Windows and smokes in games. However, from my limited P4 experience, I would have to say I'm disappointed w/multi-tasking.
Also, if OCing is your thing, a 2.8/3.0 Prescott will OC like a champ with the right RAM and a serious cooler.

whats this whole deal about the XP64bit? When is it expected to be released? Does the PCI-E slots in most of the new motherboards support AGP?

About having two seperate systems, and 2 monitors on each. The answer is fairly simple, I don't want to have two keyboards, two mice, and move to move something around on a different monitor.

yes ma'm,
pci-e slots will support pci-e, agp, pci, pci-x, isa, ps/2, local bus and slot 1/2 cpus. additionally they will read credit cards. word is pci-e 2.0 slots in future will also be able to wash your car and cook you dinner.

wtf?

Too bad youre going back to Intel, but i guess it would make sense.

Try looking into the newer P4s with the x86-instructions....on top of the HTT.

make sense for you, that is. Reading as how you dont play any games. Graphical stuff is also better on HTT intels....about the only thing that beats AMD chips.

I'm not sure what you're asking when you ask what's the whole deal about XP-64. It's a 64bit OS. There are entire articles you can read that point out the benefits of XP-64 when used with 64bit chips. I can't wait for 64bit games and AV encoding/decoding apps personally. 😉

It is still in beta and they're not expecting to release it until next year some time.

No. They are different architectures, completely incompatible with each other electrically and physically.

graphical stuff best on 3d labs wildcat realizm 800 640mb dual gpu 7+ terra flops beats everything on the market by factor 2 or more, dont matter if in an intel or an amd system.
