It's all subjective IMO
Congrats on the killer setup, could you post screenshots side by side so we can give a second opinion?

There is no difference dude. We've been over this already, sorry you missed the memo.

If there were a difference, I would notice it.

I opened both those photos in PS side by side and overlay some sections and I see no difference.

[Edit] NVM ok I see now that is 1/4 players (waiting) so they would be the same, so disregard my edited question. :)

to prevent further thread derailment. it is better to agree to disagree.
just incase. did do a side by side screenshot. it is pretty darn close. so close not sure if "better" is the right adjective to use.

keep in mind this is very very very subjective. imho - dx differs a shade or two more in contrast and mantle is a shade or two more in exposure.

again. this is strictly mho. so allow us to agree to disagree.

as soon as those other 2 290x arrives.
will update this thread.

Just out of curiosity, do you have your monitors calibrated?

With an ICC profile?

going to let that mantle vs directx sidebar die here. sorry for not further replying to that. will answer your questions on the next mantle directx thread.

back on topic.

bf4 on ultra with 290x x2 for eyefinity 1080p is definitely "playable". not perfect nor where I want it to be but tolerable. crossfireX is so smooth - almost feel like single gpu when the frames dips. no hitching what so ever.

290x x3 should be "enjoyable". if not. 290x x4 should seal the last nail in this coffin.

will let you all know soon. eta arrival via ups is this friday. hoping to find time to bench this weekend.

How are you planning to space the quad 290x? I'm assuming now at dual 290x you are on air and will keep air through 3 x 290x. If 3 doesn't cut it are you bringing in water?

4) Noise n Underwater

Heaven4 Ultra Texture 8xAA Ext Tessellation 1920x1080. Ambient is 26.5C

For baseline. Single GPU = fan is hovering 52% and temp is 85C.

For now. GPU 1 is in slot 1/2 and GPU 2 is in slot 4/5. on air with 1 slot in between.
To prevent throttling. Fan Max is increased to 85%.
GPU 1 = fan is hovering about 76% and temp is 87C.
GPU 2 = fan is hovering about 64% and temp is 85C.
No throttling what so ever.

Does get noisy. No doubt about that.
headphone gaming - no problem.
speaker gaming - definitely audible and loud, but not winning or annoying or pitching (was surprise).

for testing/benching. will install it in a temporary open bench with 8x risers. just like crypto coin system.

with 290x 3. will see how loud it actually gets. may stay with air. high high high probability going water.

with 290x 4. definitely water. only way to go air on 4 is open bench. hate open bench due to lack of dust filtering.

GPU fan at 76% is bloody noisy, like a hairblower. Hairblowers aren't annoying with pitch or whining.. just annoying because its LOUD.

My reference cards were mining with 75% fan speed and I could not sit next to the rig after awhile so they had to go under water.

Possible to get 2 slots between the cards when running two cards to see how that affects temps?

Though you'll definatley need at least 3 cards for your taste, and if going 3,... why not 4 so it looks like water. But again, with 3 or 4 cards there's the option of undervolting and underclocking to shave off some watts and make air more feasable. Running at 900c/1250m on 3 or 4 cards might work with a ~25mv-40mv undervolt.

Just keep in mind that BF4 isn't CFX/SLI friendly, it's a real PITA to deal with.
