Some Firestrike compares:

So the 290X is somewhere between GTX770 and GTX780.

R7 250- 1GB GDDR5, < $89, > 2000 in 3DMark Firestrike ~== your phone
R7 260X - 2GB GDDR5, $139, > 3700 in Firestrike ~== 7790/7850?
R9 270X, 2GB GDDR5, $199, > 5500 Firestrike ~== 7950
R9 280X - 3GB GDDR5, $299, > 6800 in Firestrike ~== 7970
R9-290 ?
R9-290X Battlefield 4 Edition limited quantities, available for pre-order starting October 3

The 270x at 5500 is at the 760 (~670, ~7950) levels imo.

Interesting. Sounds like its integrating audio with the graphics with programmable shaders.

AMD TrueAudio engine. Oh great. Seems rather pointless. Creative is almost dead for a certain reason.

Wasn't the $300 one (280x 6800 3DMark) basically a 7970? Isn't that about what it's going for now?

The 7970 has been $280 for a month, so I'd say $300 is not a better deal, except you get the overclock for free. Sure, it's a better deal than the GHz Edition, but that card was a terrible value.

All that really matters here is how much R290X is, and they aren't telling us.

TrueAudio.. Don't understand it. Don't care to. Show me a price tag so I can confirm that I don't have the money for it.

This is boring. The guy might as well be reading from a text as if he was unwillingly called on during class.

Jesus kill me.

Well, the only thing that would be interesting to me is if this 290X card is $100 more than the 280X, so $399. Then I might actually cancel my 7950 order and step up to get the top of the line new card. Else, I'll stick with the 7950 order.

edit: oic, they snuck in a 290 between the 280x and the 290x so they can slot in another $100 into the price. heh. figures.

I'm all for getting anything possible out of the CPU. If this lets devs go bananas with audio without worrying about CPU time then I'm all for it :thumbsup:

I'm killing it, this fat guy come out with a strut that I thought might make it interesting. But bam, all these guys are reading from prompters without as much enthusiasm as could be squeezed out of a bed wetting veggie.

FFS is no-one able to give a talk without prompters these days? They taught us how to stop relying on that stuff back in 5th grade. At least this GenAudio guy has some expression in his voice

There is a reason why Creative is not relevant anymore. People dont care about audio. And it's only available on half of the new products...

You know, the problem with this is that demonstrating surround sound does not work well for video streaming. Not a great topic if they're trying to wow internet viewers.

Edit: I'm listening to this in mono and it actually sounds pretty good, LOL.
