So the 290X is somewhere between GTX770 and GTX780.
Wasn't the $300 one (280x 6800 3DMark) basically a 7970? Isn't that about what it's going for now?

I'm all for getting anything possible out of the CPU. If this lets devs go bananas with audio without worrying about CPU time then I'm all for it :thumbsup:
The 7970 has been $280 for a month, so I'd say $300 is not a better deal, except you get the overclock for free. Sure, it's a better deal than the GHz Edition, but that card was a terrible value.
All that really matters here is how much R290X is, and they aren't telling us.
