Anyone know if they are soldered or epoxied? I know the Phenom II was but just wondering about the FX6300

Well I think RVenger reaffirmed it because the FX6, more specifically the 6300 does not have an APU so it must be soldered 😛

Now for my next :hmm:: if I were to take a blowtorch to the IHS like I did my Q6600 with great success without being certain of the interface material and it turns out to be the clay crap will it cause damage?

Yeah, the FX 6300 is not integrated with a GPU to make an APU.

I'm not sure it is soldered, one way to find out is by taking a close look at the 6300 itself and see if there are any "glue marks" at the base of the IHS.

LOL - I think a blowtorch will damage it, regardless of the type of paste 😉

Glue marks as in the black sealant? It's present even with solder. I used a blow torch on my Q6600, one of the first CPU's to utilize solder suspended by four paper thin razor blades and it came right off. Improved temps, lower volts, higher clocks even further than the IHS lapped to 2000 grit. IHS are an impedance to cooling
