Nope no microcenter where I am at. bestbuy is the closest and they dont have Pc parts Like Cpu's and Mobo on hand at that store.
If you have a Microcenter near you they have the FX8320E at $99,99

Well, the 1231 V3 at 3.8Ghz, easily done on any 1150 board that allows overclocking, should easily stay in front of an FX-8350.
You have to decide on your own regarding the value of each.![]()
Was going to post this... I have a Microcenter about an hour away, might be worth the trip (I have a spare AM3+ 990FX board just sitting around).
I don't know if an FX8320e is a better value than an $80 (when they can be found) FX8310, I doubt the 'e' overclocks 25% more, even if it costs 25% more. But for $20, it's probably a better-enough CPU to be worth it. I imagine 4GHz will be effortless on every FX8320e that exists, and likely at lowish volts.
No, 3.8 isn't guaranteed. Many motherboard manufacuters have issued BIOS updates to limit the 1231v3 to 3.6 maximum. I have a Z97 Gigabyte board and even though the BIOS will let me set a 38x multiplier for the CPU if all cores are loaded it tops out at 3.6 GHz. This is apparently a common issue with newer BIOS's for 1150 boards and this CPU.
Why would Intel do this? Who knows, probably for the same reasons they gimped the over clocking on the Pentium AE 3258's.
The 8350 I just got has a September 2015 manufacturing date.
Unless I'm reading incorrectly. Here's a pic I just took of the CPU.

Because when you run a Xeon, data integrity tends to be the most important part.
If data integrity was an issue at turbo clocks, why would Xeons even have turbo?
8320E for $100Anyone know where to get a Fx-8350 or Fx-8320e for cheap cheap right now? Would very much like to snag one up today if possible to hold me over till zen pops up next year. I already checked the usual spots like tiger and newegg but they are going for $150-$170.![]()
