No  there is nothing like that here in Wisconsin where I live which is out in the sticks.
I hate it here cause there is nothing like that around and I always get bummed out when seeing how so many people get this or that for like $100-200 cheaper then me. The best I usually end up with is buying from places like Newegg or Ebay or even Amazon.

If you have a Microcenter near you they have the FX8320E at $99,99

http://www.microcenter.com/category/4294966995,4294965455/AMD-Processors

Was going to post this... I have a Microcenter about an hour away, might be worth the trip (I have a spare AM3+ 990FX board just sitting around).

I don't know if an FX8320e is a better value than an $80 (when they can be found) FX8310, I doubt the 'e' overclocks 25% more, even if it costs 25% more. But for $20, it's probably a better-enough CPU to be worth it. I imagine 4GHz will be effortless on every FX8320e that exists, and likely at lowish volts.

Well, the 1231 V3 at 3.8Ghz, easily done on any 1150 board that allows overclocking, should easily stay in front of an FX-8350.

You have to decide on your own regarding the value of each. :)

No, 3.8 isn't guaranteed. Many motherboard manufacuters have issued BIOS updates to limit the 1231v3 to 3.6 maximum. I have a Z97 Gigabyte board and even though the BIOS will let me set a 38x multiplier for the CPU if all cores are loaded it tops out at 3.6 GHz. This is apparently a common issue with newer BIOS's for 1150 boards and this CPU.

Why would Intel do this? Who knows, probably for the same reasons they gimped the over clocking on the Pentium AE 3258's.

For $20 more you're going to get a retail warranty, a cooler that works perfectly fine at stock speeds, and most likely a newer revision chip which theoretically will give you a better chance for overclocking at higher speeds with lower voltage.

Yes 4Ghz is nothing for these chips. I recently tested a FX-8300 and it could manage 4Ghz at stock voltages which for the 95W chips is really low (I think 1.15 volts).

Even so...

You'll need a good overclock on an FX-8xxx chip to hang with that Xeon.

Just checked my Asus board. Xeon still cruising along at 3.8 under load, and cool on the stock cooler.

I have an FX-6300 system, and reports of recent build 83xx chips are interesting as I intended to upgrade the machine at some point.

The 8350 I just got has a September 2015 manufacturing date.

Unless I'm reading incorrectly. Here's a pic I just took of the CPU.

New FX-8350 arrived by mail Dec 1st 2015 http://imgur.com/KCvZkU7

Yes, that does look like 2015 wk37. How much vcore does it take to run 4.5 GHz, if you don't mind me asking?

That's a really good deal. For those without a Microcenter nearby, there's a deal at NCIX to get it for $123 (which isn't really that great, but the 8320e has been trending high recently for some reason):

I doubt Intel is exactly happy about mobo makers abusing the full turbo clocks across all cores on their otherwise locked skus. That said, I've my i5-4590 locked at 3.7 GHz under all manner of turture tests without it dropping even slightly. While I'm kinda miffed on missing out on a Xeon, the turbo abuse/exploit makes it decent, plus I kinda needed the igp for output to an old 2nd monitor that doesn't seem to like my adaptor.

Because when you run a Xeon, data integrity tends to be the most important part.

Anyone know where to get a Fx-8350 or Fx-8320e for cheap cheap right now? Would very much like to snag one up today if possible to hold me over till zen pops up next year. I already checked the usual spots like tiger and newegg but they are going for $150-$170. :(
8320E for $100
UD3P board bundled for $48.

True Spirit Power 140 cooler for $55. Phanteks' cooler was on sale for $65 AR and it's better but that sale may be over.

4.4 - 4.5 GHz with enough airflow on the VRMs. 4.4 without BCLK. 4.5 with it. (The board has a cold bios boot bug over 22 multi.)

Be sure to turn off APM.
