AMD FX-8350 vs Intels best

I was speaking of desktop CPUs 😛 Because the FX-8350 is a desktop cpu.

I agree, though one can pretty much use any x86/x64 capable CPU as a desktop chip. I knew people from way back that ran dual and quad Xeon setups in the P2/P3 era. Not a great value imho, but some people have the money to throw at it.
 
Hasn't Intel always had a fairly big advantage over AMD in Video encoding? If your doing Video encoding Id say go Intel. And you also say that processor vs Intels best, you mean best period or best in the same price range. The answers are different.

also keep in mind that to get similar performance from an AMD processor they need twice the cores as intel does to do the same thing.
 
I dont think the OP should OC on a machine designed to render.
Id also go with the more core option if its multi threaded.

How did this thread get started up again? It is one and one half years old. Might have been better to start a new thread in the motherboards section.
